Chris Gotterup claimed his second career PGA TOUR win at the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open, outdueling Rory McIlroy in the Final Round. The win secured him one of the final three spots in The Open Championship, which will take place this week at Royal Portrush Golf Club in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The Open Championship is the final major championship of 2025, and it features an outstanding field on a historic course, setting up what should be a great week of golf in Ireland.
As is typically the case whenever he’s in the field, Scottie Scheffler is the favorite this week at +450. He finished T8 last week in Scotland and will be looking to claim his first Open Championship after adding a PGA Championship for his third career major earlier this year. Rory McIlroy is second at +700 followed by LIV golfers Jon Rahm at +1200 and Bryson DeChambeau at +1800.
Last year’s Open Championship was won by Xander Schauffele at Royal Troon Golf Club, and Schauffele is in the field this week at +2500. The Open Championship was played at Royal Portrush in 1951 but not again until 2019, when Shane Lowry won by six strokes over Tommy Fleetwood.
