A 15-game, 30-team slate is on tap for Saturday across Major League Baseball. That includes an afternoon matinee between two historic franchises, the Cubs and the Yankees. Later, the Giants will attempt to follow up last night’s thrilling victory with a series win over the Dodgers. As a nightcap, aces will duel in Texas as Jacob deGrom’s Rangers face Framber Valdez’s Astros.
With so many games available, that leaves plenty of enticing wagers on the board. Before the start of today’s contests, here are three MLB bets to consider on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Royals ML (+109)
Break up the Royals? Kansas City has gone 7-3 over its last ten games, including series wins over the Mariners and Diamondbacks. In a wide-open American League, the club finds its playoff hopes hanging alive by a thread. If KC wants to keep the good times rolling, it’ll take a crucial victory tonight at Kauffman Stadium. On the bump tonight will be Michael Lorenzen, making his 19th start of the season. It’s been a mediore 2025 campaign for the righty, notching a 4.61 ERA. However, that number is a far more respectable 3.79 when pitching at home. Lorenzen owns a solid 2.61 career ERA vs. New York.
A strong Mets pitching staff will turn to one of their weak links this afternoon. Offseason pickup Frankie Montas has yet to impress through three starts this season. Over 14.2 innings of work, the right-hander owns an atrocious 6.14 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. Granted, that’s a small sample size, but the 32-year-old has never been the most consistent pitcher. In the last ten games, a typically low-scoring Royals offense is averaging 4.4 runs per game. Anything above that mark on Saturday could deliver Kansas City a win.
Rockies vs. Reds under 10.5 runs (-116)
Baseball’s biggest punching bag is none other than the Rockies. With a 22-72 record, history (the bad kind) is truly on the table for this abysmal squad. Away from the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field, Colorado is averaging the league’s second-fewest runs per game (2.96). That’s bad news against Reds starter Brady Singer. The right-hander’s numbers aren’t the most impressive (4.32 ERA), but he’s been remarkably consistent. In 15 of his 18 outings, Singer has allowed three runs or less.
The biggest key to this bet cashing will be when Cincinnati is at the plate. This season, the Reds are generating 4.56 runs per game, 11th-most in baseball. However, at home that number has actually dropped to 4.42. Rockies starter Bradley Blalock has been abysmal through 16.0 innings (12.94 ERA). However, that’s mainly due to a nightmarish 12-run performance in May against the Padres. I’m not saying the 24-year-old is even average, but he’s (probably) not generationally bad. Even if Blalock gets hit hard, there’s plenty of wiggle room with a 10.5-run total. A quality start from Singer should be enough on its own to cash in on this bet.
Rangers vs. Astros over 6.5 runs (-115)
On a Saturday slate stocked with high-profile matchups, Rangers-Astros takes the cake. That’s due to the pair of All-Stars pitching tonight. For Houston, it’ll be dependable ace Framber Valdez toeing the slab. Despite missing out on this season’s Midsummer Classic, the eighth-year pro remains one of the American League’s top arms. Through 18 appearances, Valdez has accounted for a 2.90 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 115 strikeouts.
In theory, this Rangers offense ( runs per game) should be light work for Framber. That’s ignoring their recent surge; since June 10th, Texas leads baseball with 163 runs scored. In fourth place are the Astros, who remain the AL West’s team to beat. That will be the challenge facing Jacob deGrom. The former Cy Young winner has been unhittable this season, posting a 2.29 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Despite deGrom’s elite production, six of his last seven games have resulted in at least seven combined runs scored. At such a low total, this over is worth the risk on Saturday.
