Los Angeles Dodgers at Milwaukee Brewers prediction, pick for Wednesday 7/9/25

It’s always difficult to figure out what actually matters for the Dodgers during the regular season.

Take today as the perfect example. Los Angeles comes into Wednesday’s slate have dropped five straight contests, yet it still leads the National League in wins (56) and it has a five-game lead on the Giants in the division, so it doesn’t feel all that important. However, getting Tyler Glasnow back from the IL? That does set off some alarms.

Can the former All-Star snap the skid in his return? Let’s preview this matinee matchup in Milwaukee with the help of some odds and lines on the DraftKings Sportsbook.

Dodgers vs. Brewers prediction, preview

Let’s start with Glasnow, who will be making his first MLB start since throwing a single inning against the Pirates back on April 27. The right-hander was able to make three rehab starts in Triple-A before getting the nod for Wednesday, the most recent coming six days ago, when Glasnow faced 19 batters and struck out eight of them across 4.1 innings of work. Is he all the way built up? Probably not. Yet the Dodgers seemingly have two full rotations and a bullpen on the IL at the moment. They just need some arms with the pulse to get them into the All-Star break. We all know Glasnow is good when he’s right. Look no further than his 2.65 xERA and 32.2% strikeout rate back in 2024. We just also know he’s not “good” or “healthy” all that often, so enjoy him while you can.

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, we find Jose Quintana, who has mustered at least 30 starts in a season nine times in his MLB career. He won’t be able to reach that threshold again in 2025, yet Quintana’s been his usual self when available, posting a 3.44 ERA over 65.1 innings. Still, it’s worth noting that the soft-tossing LHP had a much lower ERA a few weeks back. Quintana’s past four outings have not been amazing, as the veteran has pitched to a 5.06 ERA and an inflated 1.55 WHIP. If the Rockies can score four earned runs off Quintana outside of Colorado, I fear Los Angeles will be able to get to the 36-year-old, especially considered the Dodgers own the league’s highest ISO against southpaws this season (.203).

One final thing to keep an eye on is injuries. Los Angeles has been very effective versus lefties in 2025, yet a large aspect of that success is Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernandez, with the latter possessing a stunning 198 wRC+ within the split. Edman has missed the Dodgers’ last three contests with a toe issue. Hernandez has missed the last three with a foot ailment. Dave Roberts hinted both could be back on Wednesday, but it’s currently unknown.

Dodgers vs. Brewers pick, best bet

Best Bet: Brewers ML (+133)

Milwaukee is 29-17 at home this season, including 9-8 as an underdog. At plus-money, and with Glasnow rusty, I’m willing to take a chance on the sweep.
