MLB Picks: Player Props and Team Props for Tuesday, July 8, 2025

Aaron Civale under 15.5 outs recorded -110 vs. Toronto Blue Jays

We keep getting these ambitious outs recorded totals for Aaron Civale. That’s fine by me—because I keep taking the under, and it’s working out just fine. Tonight, his outs recorded total is set at 15.5, which means for the over to hit, he’ll need to record at least one out in the sixth inning. You know how many times that’s happened in his nine starts? Twice.

Now, to be fair, he did go seven innings against the Blue Jays recently—but context matters. Civale allowed five runs on nine hits in that start. That’s not exactly a pitching line that screams “seven innings.” It’s clear the Blue Jays were seeing him well, racking up 10 total baserunners. If we get a similar outing from him tonight, I’m not buying that he makes it through six again.

Civale has been as bad as advertised. His 4.60 ERA is nearly identical to his xERA of 4.56. Home runs are a big problem—his 1.67 HR/9 is currently the highest of his career. Give me another performance like the last one against the Jays, and I think we cash the under.

Pete Crow-Armstrong 3+ H/R/RBI +135 vs. Minnesota Twins

Simeon Woods Richardson is taking the hill for the Twins tonight, and this is not a good matchup for him. He’s struggled badly against lefties—and he’ll be facing some of the best, specifically PCA. Left-handed hitters have tagged Richardson for a .371 wOBA, a 5.48 FIP, and five of the nine home runs he’s allowed.

PCA is averaging 2.6 H/R/RBI per game this season and has been absolutely crushing the ball. On the road against righties, he’s posted a .364 wOBA and a .293 ISO. I’m expecting a big game from PCA and the Cubs overall, so hitting three H/R/RBI doesn’t seem far-fetched.

Atlanta Braves at Athletics over 5.5 runs through first five innings -125

A huge total for the first five innings, as I’m looking for the Braves and Athletics to combine for six runs. With the pitching matchup on tap—Didier Fuentes vs. Jeffrey Springs—I think it’s well within reach.

Fuentes is making just the fourth start of his major league career and hasn’t found much success so far. He has a 9.00 ERA, a 6.88 xERA, and a 5.92 FIP. Fuentes struggled in the minors too, so this isn’t exactly surprising. He leans heavily on his four-seam fastball, throwing it 57% of the time. Tonight’s expected Athletics lineup has crushed that pitch this season, combining for a .362 wOBA and a .243 ISO against it.

As for Springs—he’d probably be the first to tell you he’s not loving the move to Sacramento. He’s carrying a 4.73 ERA, with half of his 16 home runs allowed coming at home. Most teams have gotten to him early: the first time through the order, he’s allowed a .368 wOBA and seven homers.

Good luck with these MLB picks tonight!
