Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers prediction, pick for Monday 7/7/25

This showdown pits two National League contenders chasing statement wins as the season’s midpoint looms large. The Dodgers arrive surging, winning seven of their last ten while pounding right-handed pitching. Milwaukee clings to a division lead, but their bats have gone quiet at the worst possible time. Below, I’ve got my preview, prediction, and best bet for this Monday night baseball game between the Brewers and the Dodgers.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Brewers vs. Dodgers prediction, preview

Los Angeles enters Milwaukee with momentum, firepower, and a statistical edge I can’t ignore. Yamamoto has been electric recently. His 2.51 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 29.3% K rate tell the story. He’s generating soft contact at a 31% clip while limiting barrels to under 5%. That’s pure dominance. Meanwhile, Freddy Peralta counters with a 2.91 ERA, but his xFIP tells the truth—it’s creeping toward 3.80 over his last five starts. That gap matters. Peralta’s hard-hit rate has spiked to 39% in that span, and his walk rate jumped to 9%. That’s not the profile you want against this Dodgers machine.

The Dodgers are raking against righties right now. Their .808 OPS and 124 wRC+ against RHP over the last 14 games stand out. Shohei Ohtani has a .426 wOBA in that stretch. Freddie Freeman? He’s posted a .400 OBP and a 45% hard-hit rate during this heater. Mookie Betts is smashing fastballs, sporting a .362 xBA on heaters the last two weeks. This lineup doesn’t just threaten—they punish mistakes. The Brewers’ offense, by contrast, has gone ice-cold. In their last three games, Milwaukee managed just 12 hits, none of them clearing the fence. Their team wRC+ over that span is a brutal 68. That’s not going to cut it against Yamamoto and a top-five bullpen (3.31 ERA over the last 30 days).

Milwaukee is 7-1 at home when Peralta starts, but look closer. That record is propped up by weak opponents. They’ve feasted on sub-.500 teams in those wins. The Dodgers are a different animal. Los Angeles is 10-2 in Yamamoto’s last 12 starts, and they’ve covered the runline in eight of those victories. The park factor leans neutral tonight, but warm weather and light winds out to left could boost power. That favors the Dodgers’ lineup far more than Milwaukee’s punchless bats.

Dodgers vs. Brewers pick, best bet

I’ve seen some argue that Peralta’s home splits will hold up. I’m not buying it. The advanced indicators tell a different story. His HR/FB rate at home is 14%—well above league average. His strand rate has also been unsustainably high, north of 85%. That’s regression waiting to happen. Yamamoto, on the other hand, is cruising. His K-BB% is among the league’s best, and he’s inducing chases at a 37% clip over his last three starts. That spells trouble for a Milwaukee lineup pressing for answers.

The Dodgers’ bullpen edge seals it. Los Angeles has the sixth-best xFIP in MLB over the last month. Milwaukee’s pen? Middle of the pack at best. In a game where late-inning leverage matters, I trust LA’s arms to slam the door. The betting trends align, too. The Dodgers are 9-4 against the runline in their last 13 road games. Milwaukee? Just 4-7 ATS as a home dog this year. The over (7.5) has some appeal given Peralta’s recent struggles, but I’m focused on the side. No hesitation—I’m locking in Dodgers -1.5. They have the superior starter, the deeper lineup, and the better pen.

Best bet: Dodgers -1.5 (+120) at Brewers
