The Giants and Athletics meet in West Sacramento for the final game of the day this Sunday night. The two teams split the first two games of the series, with the A’s winning 11-2 on Friday and the Giants storming back with a 7-2 win on Saturday. One of the exciting young players on the Athletics’ side of things that has been lots of fun to follow in his rookie year has been Nick Kurtz, so let’s take a look at a top prop bet to target for Kurtz on Sunday night.
In the big picture, the Athletics are slight favorites at -122 on the moneyline, while the run line is set at 10 in what should be a high-scoring matchup.
Nick Kurtz 3+ Hits + Runs + RBI (+140)
Kurtz had a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored on Saturday night and also had four HRR (hits, runs and RBI) on Friday with a two-run home run. He has a total of 53 HRR over his last 19 games, averaging 2.8 HRR per game.
Kurtz has been much better at home at Sutter Health Park than on the road. He’s hitting .292 with a .417 wOBA at home, and hitting .328 with a .473 wOBA against right-handed pitchers at home.
He’ll be in a good matchup against righty Hayden Birdsong. The 23-year-old Birdsong is 3-3 on the season with a 4.30 ERA, 4.56 FIP and 1.40 WHIP. He has struggled in his last few outings and been especially hittable by lefties like Kurtz, who have hit .278 with a .383 wOBA against him.
While Kurtz can get to this prop all in one swing of the bat with a home run, he can also get there with different combinations. If the Athletics are able to pile up runs as the run line and money line imply, Kurtz should be very involved and should be able to reach this HRR line. His HRR over/under is set at 1.5 with the over at -125, which is a safer play, but I think Kurtz can step up and deliver at these plus odds on Sunday.
