Two WNBA games will take place on the Saturday slate.
Starting at 7:00 p.m. ET, the Indiana Fever will host the Los Angeles Sparks, with Caitlin Clark having missed the previous four games due to a left groin injury. She was listed as questionable for Thursday’s game, but was unable to suit up, and her status is uncertain for Saturday. The Fever have wisely been cautious in the management of Clark, with the team closing in on the midpoint of the season.
Then, at 8:00 p.m. ET, the Golden State Valkyries will travel to take on the Minnesota Lynx. The Lynx continue to sit at the top of the WNBA standings with their 15-2 record, and this will be the second matchup between these two teams, with the Lynx producing an 86-75 win back on June 1st.
With a pair of matchups on the table, here are my favorite WNBA prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Saturday’s games.
Aliyah Boston Over 8.5 Rebounds (-115)
Aliyah Boston is the leading rebounder on the Fever, pulling in 8.1 boards per night. The 6-foot-5 forward is also adding 16.2 points and 3.5 assists per game, showing an encouraging stride forward after back-to-back All-Star appearances in her first two seasons in the WNBA. Boston has pulled in as many as 13 rebounds in a game this season and has recorded over 8.5 rebounds in eight of 17 games. This includes the previous matchup with the Sparks this year, in which Boston pulled in 10 rebounds.
This is a favorable matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks, who have struggled to rebound the basketball. On the season, Los Angeles ranks 11th in rebounds per game and hold a 49.7% rebounding percentage. This ranks seventh in the WNBA. Cameron Brink remains out for the Sparks as she recovers from her ACL tear, which would help this outlook.
Boston has been rebounding the ball especially well of late, tallying 10+ rebounds in three of her past four games, including 13 in two of these. With success already against the Sparks, expect her commitment to rebounding to be evident. Look for her to pull in at least nine rebounds for the ninth time this season and the second straight matchup with Los Angeles.
Kayla Thornton Under 6.5 Rebounds (-120)
Kayla Thornton is amidst a career year during the inaugural season for the Golden State Valkyries. The 32-year-old is averaging a career-high 15.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories.
While she deserves praise for her strong start, it feels Thornton is playing a bit above her head. It should be a rude awakening as the Valkyries prepare to face the league-leading Minnesota Lynx. The Lynx have a strong frontcourt that outrebounded the Connecticut Sun 41-27 just two games ago.
Thornton has pulled in 10+ rebounds in four games this season, but also has been held to under 6.5 rebounds in 10 of the 16 games she has played. This includes back-to-back matchups entering this game. Expect Minnesota to continue playing at a high level and for Thornton to struggle to impose herself on the interior. Seven boards is simply a lofty bar based on the context of this matchup.
Napheesa Collier Over 20.5 Points (-125)
You can’t get far when discussing the Lynx without bringing up Napheesa Collier. She has climbed to a -300 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook to be crowned WNBA MVP. The four-time All-Star is averaging 24.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 37.7% from beyond the three-point arc and bringing her usual level of impactful defense. Collier has tallied 30+ points in three games this season and scored over 20.5 points in 11 of the 14 games she has played.
The Valkyries are a solid defensive team, ranking second in opponents’ points allowed and second in defensive rating. They have limited opponents to the fewest points in the paint and the worst field goal percentage on the year.
But Collier is a different beast, and there is value in her point prop dropping this low. The Lynx play through the MVP favorite, and she can score the ball in a variety of ways. Count on Collier asserting herself and playing in attack mode in the first matchup between these two teams. She has scored over 20.5 points in three straight games entering tonight and six of her past seven. Golden State has been impressive out of the gate in their inaugural season, but Collier and the Lynx are a level that they have not been tasked with matching yet. Expect a bit of a wake-up call, and for Collier to lead the charge with over 20.5 points for the 12th time this season.
