MLB Picks: Player Props and Team Props for Thursday, July 3, 2025

Jake Irvin under 17.5 outs recorded -115 vs. Detroit Tigers

Irvin is in the midst of a brutal stretch of baseball. He finished the month of June with an ugly 7.01 ERA, a .430 wOBA against, and surrendered nine of the 19 home runs he’s allowed this season. As a result, he went under 17.5 outs recorded in four of his five starts that month. The only outing in which he reached six innings was a home game against the Rockies.

Now, he’ll face one of the hottest offenses in the league — the Tigers, who have averaged 5.8 runs over their last five games. Irvin has been hit hard by hitters from both sides of the plate, but lefties have given him the most trouble. They’ve tagged him for a .352 wOBA, a 5.37 FIP, and 11 of his 19 home runs allowed. The Tigers’ projected lineup is expected to include at least five left-handed hitters, which only strengthens the case for this bet.

Ben Rice 2+ total bases +130 vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Chris Bassitt has taken a turn for the worse after an encouraging start to the season. Since May 1, he has posted a 5.25 ERA, a .350 wOBA against, and has surrendered nine home runs. Left-handed hitters have consistently been a problem for Bassitt throughout his career, and that trend has continued this season. They’ve tagged him for a .354 wOBA, a 4.15 FIP, and seven of the 11 home runs he’s allowed.

This sets up a great opportunity for Ben Rice to record at least two total bases. Rice has excelled against the sinker, which is Bassitt’s primary pitch. At +130, I’m all over this play tonight.

Los Angeles Angels team total over 4.5 runs +114 vs. Atlanta Braves

Bryce Elder is making another start for the Braves — and that’s good news for the Angels. Elder has been getting shelled lately, even by below-average teams. His last three starts included outings against the Rockies and Marlins, who combined to score nine runs over just 8.2 innings.

Elder leans heavily on his sinker, throwing it 43% of the time. The Angels’ projected lineup has fared well against that pitch this season, with a combined .365 wOBA and a .150 ISO.

Elder hasn’t shown any signs of pulling out of his current slump, which has me backing the Angels to go over their team total tonight.

Good luck with these MLB picks tonight!
