The John Deere Classic will be played at TPC Deere Run (par 71, 7,289 yards, bentgrass greens) in Silvis, Illinois. This field features 156 golfers and a top 65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.

Davis Thompson Under 38.5 Finishing Position (-120)
Davis Thompson is the defending champion of the John Deere Classic. At TPC Deere Run last year, he shot a tournament-record 28-under, en route to his first PGA TOUR victory, including an eight-under 63 in the first round and a nine-under 62 in the third round. That 62 matched Thompson’s career-low on the PGA TOUR and, among the players in this field that have competed at TPC Deere Run more than once, Thompson ranks first in strokes gained per round at 2.85.
Looking to defend his title at TPC Deere Run this week, Thompson is coming off two solid finishes, with a T25 at the Travelers Championship and a T34 at the Rocket Classic. He gained strokes on approach at both these events and Thompson has finished 38th or better in nine of his 19 starts this season. Given his strong resume at TPC Deere Run and the very weak field he is facing this week, Thompson should be in store for one of his best performances of the season and he is stellar bet to finish under 38.5 place.
