MLB Best Bets: Top Starting Pitcher Prop Bets for Sunday 6/29/25

With a busy Sunday afternoon of baseball underway, three games are later in the afternoon and evening, giving everyone a chance to either bounce back after a tough early slate or leverage some winnings into an even bigger bankroll with a strong finish to the weekend. Let’s take a look at the three games starting at 4:00 p.m. ET or later and find some strong starting pitcher prop bets to consider. After browsing the available options, my top props for late action on Sunday include selections from Eduardo Rodriguez, Jack Kochanowicz and Tarik Skubal.

Every day of the season, DraftKings Sportsbook offers multiple ways to get in on the action with player props, Moneylines and picks against the spread from each MLB contest. You can also pick series winners, award winners and team futures, so be sure to check out all the options available on the MLB page of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Best Starting Pitcher Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook

Eduardo Rodriguez over 5.5 hits allowed (-115)

The Diamondbacks have dropped each of the first two games to the visiting Marlins by one run, and they’ll look to Rodriguez to give them a strong start to avoid a sweep on Sunday. For my starting pitcher prop bets, though, I’m going against the veteran lefty and taking the over on his hits allowed at over 5.5.

Rodriguez has allowed 81 hits in his 13 starts this season (6.2 per game), and he has allowed at least six hits in four of his last six outings and eight of his last eleven. He only gave up five hits in his last start, spinning six shutout innings against the White Sox with 10 strikeouts.

The Marlins are a much tougher matchup than Chicago, though, and they have been much improved on offense all season, after a dismal 2024. Over the last two weeks, they have the second-most hits in the majors with an average of 9.7 hits per game in their last 13 contests. On the season, they have hit .255 as a team, which ranks inside the top 10 in the majors.

While I do think this will be another hard-fought, close contest, ultimately, I think the Fish get at least six hits against E-Rod on Sunday afternoon at Chase Field.

Jack Kochanowicz over 2.5 earned runs allowed (-125)

In my home run props for this afternoon, I included James Wood and highlighted the struggles that Kochanowicz has had against left-handed hitters this season. Lefties have a .303 batting average against him with a .393 wOBA and 13 homers in his 16 starts.

The Nationals bring a left-handed heavy lineup including Wood, CJ Abrams and the top five batters in the lineup. They should be able to get plenty of hard hits and cause plenty of damage against Kochanowicz, who has a 5.49 ERA on the season and a 5.40 home ERA.

He has allowed at least four earned runs in five of his last seven games, including each of his last three home starts. In his 16 starts this season, he has given up 3.2 earned runs per outing, and with the Nats so lefty-heavy, I think they’ll get to three against him fairly comfortably on Sunday afternoon. I don’t hate betting the alternate total of 4+ earned runs allowed at +150.

Tarik Skubal under 7.5 strikeouts (+100)

Listen, I’m a huge Skubal fan and love backing the AL Cy Young winner whenever I can. However, this strikeout line is too high for the lefty at home against the Twins on Sunday. Not that he can’t go over it, he has many times, but to me, the far more likely outcome is that he’ll go under 7.5 strikeouts, and getting this at even-money is strong enough to make it the third of my starting pitcher prop bets for this Sunday. If you want to pick a positive prop for Skubal, you could take him to record a win (-115) or to go over 18.5 outs (-105), but the odds are more favorable for this option, which is why it’s the one I’m highlighting.

Skubal went over this line in his last start, just barely, finishing with eight strikeouts against the Athletics. He only went six innings and gave up four runs after going just 5 2/3 innings in his previous outing against the Pirates.

Before getting eight strikeouts in that home start against the A’s, Skubal had finished with under 7.5 strikeouts in four straight games. He also finished under this line in seven of his last eight starts against the Twins.

The Twins’ offense has not been great this season, but they are below league average in K% and have been among the best in the league at strikeout suppression in the last two weeks. They have a 20.6% K% during that span, averaging only 7.7 strikeouts per game.

While there’s definitely the potential for Skubal to dominate and get to double-digit strikeouts in the Sunday night spotlight, the more likely outcome is that he lands under this number, so that’s my play for this matchup.
