DraftKings NASCAR Pick6 Plays: Top Picks for NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart at Atlanta

The NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400 Available at Walmart at Atlanta is on Saturday night and DraftKings is offering a new way to play fantasy NASCAR. The game is simple. Build a “Pick Set” (2+ drivers) and decide if they will outperform their stat projections. Here is some advice to help build your DraftKings Pick6 Pick Sets for the NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400 Available at Walmart at Atlanta.

Daniel Suarez: Finishing Position – 12.5

Pick6 Play: Better

This is a pretty simple Pick6 pick. Don’t overcomplicate it—this week’s race doesn’t call for complexity. The new Atlanta Motor Speedway is a superspeedway, where Cup Series stock cars draft and run in packs. This racing style levels the playing field for equipment and minimizes skill disparities. When the checkered flag flies, crash avoidance is what matters most. Suarez has proven he can stay out of trouble at Atlanta. He’s not flawless (33rd in February and 29th in the 2023 spring race), but nobody is—plate racing is unpredictable. A survival rate above 50% is generally above average. In his other five Atlanta races, Suarez finished first, second (twice), fourth and sixth.

Denny Hamlin: Finishing Position – 11.5

Pick6 Play: Better

The new Atlanta Motor Speedway hasn’t been kind to Hamlin. In seven superspeedway races there, he’s finished outside the top-20 five times. He has only one top-10 finish, which came in the most recent race. He was due for it—and he’s still due. Hamlin is widely considered one of the best superspeedway drivers ever, yet his Atlanta top-10 rate is below 50%, far from where it should be. “Being due” isn’t a real stat, but it feels real. Superspeedway racing is random, heavily influenced by luck. The roulette wheel keeps landing on red, but it’s bound to hit black eventually.

There’s another angle at play. Hamlin has rebranded himself as a villain. His heel turn isn’t about being evil—it’s about staying relevant. He craves attention to attract sponsors, and Atlanta offers a prime opportunity. It’s the first race of the NASCAR In-Season Challenge Presented by DraftKings—a 32-team bracket based on head-to-head driver matchups. The $1 million prize is enticing, but being the inaugural champion carries prestige, like winning the first-ever King of the Ring. Who can forget the 1985 King of the Ring winner, Don Muraco? OK, bad example. How about the 1996 champion? Steve Austin was a mid-card wrestler until he turned heel, won the 1996 King of the Ring, and mocked Jake “The Snake” Roberts’ born-again Christian gimmick with “Austin 3:16,” launching his path to the championship. The rest is history. Don’t be surprised if the JGR Toyota veteran starts hawking “Hamlin 3:16” T-shirts on his podcast.
