After a year off, the former WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder returns after a year away from boxing to face Tyrrell Herndon in a 10-round bout. This event will occur in Wichita, Kansas, starting at 8:00 p.m. ET on DAZN. The ringwalks for the Main Event are expected to begin at 11:00 p.m. ET.
Wilder has lost two straight fights and four of his previous five contests. He is coming off a knockout loss against Zhilei Zhang in June 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Wilder’s last victory came against Robert Helenius 32 months ago (October 2022). Even though he has suffered multiple defeats lately, Wilder has had a challenging schedule. He has fought Zhang, Joseph Parker, and Tyson Fury twice in the last five years.
In this matchup, Wilder will face Herndon, a significant step down in competition for the “Bronze Bomber.” Herndon is 24-5 in his career with 15 knockouts and has won three straight fights. Herndon last beat Rudy Silvas via split decision in May 2024.
Unsurprisingly, the former champion is a massive -1400 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook as Herndon is a +750 underdog. Wilder is -800 to win this bout by KO/TKO/DQ. Below is the full 11-fight card for Wilder vs. Tyrrell.
