Full Card for UFC 317: Topuria vs. Oliveira

One of the premier weekends of the year for the UFC is here— International Fight Week. In traditional IFW fashion, eight countries are represented on this card: USA, Brazil, Russia, Philippines, Norway, Myanmar, New Zealand, and Georgia. Two title fights headline the event: Ilia Topuria vs. No. 2 Charles Oliveira for the Lightweight Championship, and Alexandre Pantoja defends his 125-pound title against No. 4 Kai Kara-France.

Whenever a new young fighter quickly wins a championship and emerges into superstardom, they compare you to one fighter. Conor McGregor. Yes, it is tough to compare anyone to the “Notorious” one, but if anyone can, former Featherweight Champion Ilia Topuria has as good of a case as anyone yet. Everything he has said he would do has come to fruition until now. Topuria has had one of the greatest two-fight stretches in history, and on Saturday, he can add Oliveira to his resume.

This is how Topuria has performed in title bouts. He knocked out Alexander Volkanovski in the second round at UFC 298 to become the 145-pound champion. Topruia followed that up with another devastating knockout win over Max Holloway at UFC 308 in October 2024. In his MMA career, he has had 16 victories and 14 finishes. Topruia has had a flawless start to his UFC career and is on the path to becoming an all-time great.

Everyone was clamoring to see Topruoia move up to lightweight to face the dominant champion, Islam Makhachev. But even though that fight isn’t happening now, Topruia still has a former decorated champion on his path to achieving his dreams of becoming a two-division king. That is Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira, who reigned as lightweight champion from 2021 to 2022.

Aura gets used too often, but Topuria embodies that word more than anyone in the UFC. When you see Topuria, you don’t think he is a UFC fighter; instead, he has the look and confidence of a celebrity. Topuria’s rise has been quick. Just two years ago, he was facing Josh Emmett at a Fight Night, and now he is headlining one of the biggest UFC events of the year.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Topuria is a -455 favorite in this fight, while Oliveira is a +350 underdog. But those odds are deceiving to the eye.

Oliveira is 13-2 in his previous 15 fights and is coming off his second career victory over Michael Chandler. Do Bronx is a future UFC Hall-of-Famer with his name etched all over the record books. Oliveira has the most finishes (20), most bonuses (20), and the second-most wins (23) in UFC history. Even though this is for the vacant light title, this isn’t anything new to the division. Oliveira competed in the last vacant lightweight title fight, defeating Chander at UFC 262.

The co-main event is also a highly compelling matchup. Dominant champion Alex Pantoja will defend his flyweight title against Kai “Don’t Blink” Kara-France. The pride of New Zealand is returning after a massive knockout against Steve Erceg in December 2024. Kara-France is among the most powerful fighters to compete at 125 pounds.

Pantoja is the favorite at -238, as Kara-France is +195. The champion has defended his title three straight times and will compete in his fifth consecutive championship fight on Saturday. Pantoja submitted Kai Asakura in the second round in the Main Event of UFC 310.
