Caitlin Clark is set to miss tonight’s matchup with the Dallas Wings due to a groin injury. The Indiana Fever star was considered day-to-day with the issue, but will be held out from tonight’s matchup, which was expected to be a high-profile meeting between the WNBA’s past two No. 1 overall picks. There surely will be other battles to come against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings, but the Fever will keep Clark sidelined this evening. She also missed the previous game against the Los Angeles Sparks with the same issue.
After not missing a single game during her four-year career at Iowa and playing all 40 regular-season games as a rookie, this will mark the seventh game Clark has missed already this season. Across the nine games she has played, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year is averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game. She has had some struggles with her efficiency, shooting just 39.0% from the floor and 29.5% on three-point attempts, and is also turning the ball over 5.9 times per game.
The Fever hold a record of 7-8 on the season and are tied for eighth in the WNBA. They are 2-4 without Clark on the season.
Looking at tonight’s matchup, the Fever are facing the 4-12 Dallas Wings. Even without Clark, Indiana enters as 1.5-point favorites and -125 on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Wings hold +105 odds of pulling off the upset with the game total set at 166.5.
