The NFL Draft is in the rearview, and now it is time to turn attention towards the upcoming season. Best Ball drafts have been taking place for a while, and some players are starting to see significant drops in their average draft position.

WR Travis Hunter, Jaguars | ADP: 55.0 (biggest week-to-week faller)
The Jaguars’ rookie was one of the most popular players in best ball drafts in the immediate aftermath of the NFL Draft. Travis Hunter was a phenom in college, winning the Heisman Trophy due to his “unicorn” status as a star on both sides of the ball. There are multiple reasons why Hunter’s stock could be dropping in Best Ball drafts. Firstly, it is still unclear how big of a role Hunter will play in the offense. Hunter is planning on playing both wide receiver and defensive back, but at the NFL level, it won’t be possible for him to be full-time on both sides of the ball. The question is whether he will be a mostly full-time defensive back playing key offensive snaps or a mostly full-time receiver playing get-off-the-field downs on defense.
Hunter is an electric player, but part of the reason for his success in college was also the heavy passing attack from the Colorado offense. He had a great connection with Shedeur Sanders, and Colorado wanted to play fast and throw the ball at an alarming rate. It could take some time for Hunter’s game to adjust to the NFL and for the Jaguars to figure out how best to use him. Also, Brian Thomas Jr. emerged as a star in his rookie season for the Jaguars, finishing third in the NFL in receiving yards. As long as Thomas is healthy, Hunter will likely be the WR2, making him less valuable than he was originally being considered due to people’s excitement over his potential. Hunter could be a star for the Jaguars, but from a fantasy perspective, this ADP seems more fair.
WR Terry McLaurin, Commanders | ADP: 31.3 (third-biggest faller)
Terry McLaurin’s best ball stock is dropping largely due to contractual issues in Washington. McLaurin is one of the best wide receivers in the league, and he immediately hit it off with rookie sensation Jayden Daniels. McLaurin caught over 80 balls, had over 1,000 receiving yards and finished second in the NFL in receiving touchdowns. If he is back on the Commanders next season, he should have another amazing campaign. However, he is yet to reach an extension with the Commanders and has been holding out from spring workouts until he gets that signed. There is speculation that Washington will trade McLaurin if they don’t come to an agreement. Drafters seem nervous over the uncertainty of where McLaurin could end up.
However, I would expect Washington to get this deal done. They have a new leadership group in the organization, and it would be a bad look for them not to re-sign McLaurin after their success last season. McLaurin should also want to stay in Washington and be able to have Jayden Daniels throwing to him for the next few seasons. It might be a bit drawn out over the summer, but the two parties should come to an agreement before the season starts. This could be the time to buy Terry McLaurin stock if others are dumping it.
RB Ashton Jeanty, Raiders | ADP: 10.4 (fourth-biggest faller)
Ashton Jeanty is another player who is falling down draft boards a bit after the initial excitement over his arrival in the NFL. Jeanty was a sensation in college and led Boise State to the College Football Playoff, while finishing second in the Heisman race behind Travis Hunter. The Raiders took Jeanty sixth-overall, making him the highest-drafted running back since Saquon Barkley went second in 2018. Jeanty has the chance to be a top-tier NFL running back from the jump. He is physical enough to be an NFL running back and can do it all from the backfield. Raheem Mostert is a solid veteran back that the Raiders also added this offseason, but he will be a clear backup to Jeanty, who will get a large majority of the carries, especially at the goal line.
Jeanty dropped some, but is still a top ten pick in many Best Ball drafts. Some are afraid to take him over proven NFL talent, but on what will be an improved Las Vegas offense, he should be one of the best backs in the league from the very beginning.
