Tonight is the 2025 NBA Draft, and the rumor mill is buzzing. Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper are expected to be the first two players taken on Wednesday evening, but after that, it is a bit of a mystery.

Kon Knueppel drafted at pick No. 4 (-250)
Kon Knueppel is the favorite to be chosen by the Hornets at No. 4. For a while, this draft class was considered to be Cooper Flagg and everybody else. While that still might be the case, because Flagg is potentially a generational talent, the rest of the draft order is finally taking shape, leading up to draft night. The Spurs seem very excited about adding Dylan Harper to their squad with the second pick. Then, the 76ers are likely to take V.J. Edgecombe from Baylor with the No. 3 pick.
If those players fall where they are predicted, the Hornets are left with several options at the No. 4. Cooper Flagg’s Duke teammate, Kon Knueppel, is the odds-on favorite to be the choice. However, there is a chance that the Hornets take the bigger risk on Ace Bailey, who may have a higher ceiling. There is also a chance that the 76ers take Bailey, which would make Edgecomb an intriguing selection for the Hornets.
The final option the Hornets have is to trade away the fourth pick. If they don’t love Bailey or Knueppel, they could trade a few spots back with a team that is higher on one of those players. Teams like the Nets and Pelicans are potential trade-up candidates, as they hold multiple first-round picks.
Ultimately, I expect the Hornets to play it safe and select Kon Knueppel. Knueppel is a sharpshooter who could be a dangerous perimeter threat for Charlotte. Knueppel is also an underrated defender who can guard multiple positions and is a great rebounder with high basketball IQ. The Hornets could immediately plug him into the starting lineup over Josh Green and have a better team. Knueppel could also be a great shooting spark and high-effort guy off the bench to start his career. The Hornets would be passing on a great talent and team fit if they don’t take Knueppel on draft night.
