The San Francisco Giants lost a 4-2 battle against the Miami Marlins at Oracle Park last night, but Wednesday provides a chance to shake off the loss and get back in the win column as these teams run it back again. It’s the final game on tonight’s slate, so settle in for some late-night action on the diamonds with the 9:45 p.m. EST start.

Giants vs. Marlins prediction, preview
San Francisco Giants
The Giants are 44-35 on the season at second in the NL West with a solid 25-15 record at their home park. They may be 4-6 over their last 10 games, but the team is still working to integrate Rafael Devers into the lineup after they traded for the former Red Sox star just last week. Once he gets going, it’s wheels up for this squad moving forward.
San Francisco ranks 17th in AVG and runs scored but 11th in OPS over the last 15 days. They’re a bit shaky at the moment and the offense has been pretty hit-or-miss overall this season, but the Giants clearly have the pieces to contend with Devers, Heliot Ramos, Matt Chapman and a handful of other talented batters. Plus, their pitching staff ranks second in ERA, 11th in WHIP and 12th in strikeouts.
Miami Marlins
The Marlins aren’t having the same caliber of campaign with a 32-45 record overall, good for fourth in the NL East. It’s a tough scene for Miami as they’ve still failed to recapture the magic of a successful 2023 season in which they made the playoffs, but hope remains that eventually the team can build to sustainable success.
The Marlins are actually better on offense than one might expect, ranking 11th in AVG and 19th in OPS this year. Consistent scoring remains a concern at 24th in runs though, and with a pitching staff that falls bottom-six in ERA and WHIP, they don’t have a ton of arm talent to make up for it. The Giants’ can capitalize on that tonight if the bats wake back up.
Giants vs. Marlins pick, best bet
The Giants are strong favorites this evening with -232 Moneyline odds on DraftKings Sportsbook to the Marlins’ Moneyline odds of +187. The run total of 6.5 marks the lowest remaining line on the slate.
Right-handed ace Logan Webb takes the mound for San Francisco with the upper hand tonight. In 101.1 innings, he’s thrown to the tune of a 2.49 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 114 strikeouts — those numbers improve to 2.35 and 1.07 across his last seven games.
Miami starts righty Edward Cabrera, who hasn’t quite recaptured the form of his excellent 2022 campaign. This season, he’s logged a 3.81 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 63 strikeouts in 59.0 innings. The numbers are respectable, but going blow-for-blow against Webb presents a very tall task.
For tonight’s top betting pick, I like Marlins +1.5 quite a bit at -120 odds on DKSB. It might be a somewhat bold pick given the perceived gap between these teams, but Devers is still adjusting to life in San Francisco and hasn’t really found his stride yet with the team. Plus, Cabrera’s numbers are sneaky-good over his last seven outings with a 2.08 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 39 punchouts in 34.2 innings. I think he can limit the Giants enough to keep things competitive for Miami in this one.
