Golf Best Bets: Top Matchup Picks on DraftKings Sportsbook for the Rocket Classic

The PGA TOUR heads to the Motor City this week for the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club (par 72, 7,370 yards, bentgrass/POA annua greens). This Donald Ross-designed venue has been the home of the Rocket Classic since the event was added to the annual PGA TOUR schedule in 2019. This week’s field consists of 156 golfers and there will be a standard top-65 and ties cut following the first two rounds.

Below, I have featured some head-to-head tournament matchup bets to consider for the event.

Top Rocket Classic Matchup Picks

Max Homa over Nicolai Hojgaard (-120)

Homa has the edge in both course history and current form over Hojgaard this week. Homa has never missed a cut in four tries at Detroit Golf Club and he has carded a top-25 finish in his last three visits to the par 72. As for Hojgaard, he finished T21st in his first attempt at Detroit Golf Club in 2023, but then he took a step backward and finished T66th in his second start at the venue last season. Overall, Homa is gaining 1.1 strokes per round at Detroit Golf Club, compared to only 0.59 for Hojgaard.

As for their current form, Homa has advanced to the weekend in six of his last seven starts, including two top-30 finishes, whereas Hojgaard has only made two of his past seven cuts and both of those finishes came outside the top 40.

When it comes to odds to make the cut on DraftKings Sportsbook, Homa carries -165 odds, which are slightly more favored than Hojgaard at -175. Homa should be able to outlast Hojgaard this week and is the right choice for this tournament matchup.

Rickie Fowler over Matt Fitzpatrick (-105)

While Fitzpatrick has never teed it up at Detroit Golf Club before, Fowler has competed at every Rocket Classic event there and has thrived at the Ross creation. Fowler has made 5-of-6 cuts at Detroit Golf Club, including a T12 in 2020 and a win in 2023. The veteran has an 8-under 64 on his resume at this par 72 and he is gaining a strong 1.1 strokes per round at Detroit Golf Club.

Not only does Fowler have the obvious edge in course history over Fitzpatrick this week, but Fowler has had a better overall season than Fitzpatrick in 2025. Fowler has made 12-of-14 cuts with five top-25 finishes and while Fitzpatrick also has five top-25 finishes to his name, he has missed four cuts in 15 starts.

At this reasonable -105 price, backing Fowler to win this matchup over Fitzpatrick is a sharp call.
