Chicago White Sox vs. Arizona Diamondbacks prediction, pick for Wednesday 6/25/25

The White Sox and Diamondbacks play the third and final game of their three-game set on Wednesday, June 25. Arizona won the first two, clinching the series despite the team suffering numerous key injuries this season.

Wednesday’s game will feature a pitching matchup between Zac Gallen and Sean Burke.

The Diamondbacks are -137 favorites on the moneyline, and the game total is set at over/under nine runs on DraftKings Sportsbook. The White Sox are +112 underdogs.

Here’s my prediction and pick for Wednesday’s White Sox vs. Diamondbacks matchup.

White Sox vs. Diamondbacks prediction

The White Sox are still the worst team in the American League, but their chances against the Diamondbacks aren’t too bad. Arizona took the first two games of the series, including a 10-0 shutout in the first game.

Wednesday’s matchup could be a lot easier as Gallen will be on the mound for the Diamondbacks. He owns a 5.60 ERA and leads MLB with 57 earned runs and the American League with 41 walks. Gallen has put together strong seasons as recent as last year, but it hasn’t been a good 2025 campaign through 16 starts.

As July approaches, the hope that Gallen can return to form is diminishing. Perhaps a weak White Sox lineup can help fix him, but he’s also struggled against the Rockies and Pirates, who are just as bad offensively.

Even though Chicago can put some runs on the board against Gallen, it isn’t quite trotting out a Cy Young either. Burke is in his second major league season, holding a 4.50 ERA through 15 outings and 13 starts.

The bright side for Chicago is that the Diamondbacks are short-handed. Burke won’t have to face Corbin Carroll, Eugenio Suarez and potentially Josh Naylor as the three recover from injuries.

White Sox vs. Diamondbacks pick, best bet

Before we get ahead of ourselves, the White Sox are not a trustworthy team. Just two games ago, they were shut out 10-0 by this same Diamondbacks squad. Eduardo Rodríguez (5.40 ERA) pitched six innings and Anthony DeSclafani (6.14 ERA) pitched three innings in the win.

Just because a struggling pitcher is on the mound, doesn’t mean there will be a ton of runs. Gallen will find his footing — at least enough for the under to hit. Burke will limit the Diamondbacks, too.

Best Bet: Under 9 runs (-123)
