To cap off tonight’s MLB slate, the San Diego Padres host the Washington Nationals at 9:40 p.m. EST for some West-Coast action. The Padres are heavily favored in this one behind the bats of stars Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado, so we’re taking a look at the top prop bets for one of them here.

Here’s the top Fernando Tatis Jr. prop bet for Padres vs. Nationals to consider on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Tatis’ 2025 campaign has been something of a mystery. He’s not having near the year fans hoped for, nor do his numbers stack up to the best seasons on his stat sheet which came early in his still-young career. Still Tatis slashes .268/.359/.460 with a respectable .819 OPS. He’s tallied 12 extra-base hits with 56 runs, 34 RBIs and 14 homers, so while a down year by his standards, the outfielder still puts up numbers.

Tonight, Tatis and his Padres teammates take on left-hander Mitchell Parker. The 25-year-old has declined slightly in his second year of MLB competition with a 4.59 ERA and 1.32 WHIP, and he’s certainly not a strikeout pitcher with just 58 punchouts across 80.1 innings. His savant numbers don’t reflect many trends for bettors to worry about, ranking 50th-percentile or worse in all categories but barrel percentage, chase percentage, and extension.

However, Tatis’ splits against lefties leave much to be desired. He slashes just .183/.306/.282 against southpaws, far from encouraging signs for tonight’s betting cards. Just one of his homers have come against them, as have just 13 of his 73 hits.

Even with a shaky pitcher on the mound, I’m taking under 1.5 total bases at -135 for Tatis this evening. He just doesn’t see the ball well against left-handed pitchers, and while Parker’s numbers suggest a tasty matchup, that’s simply not the case here. If it was a righty, I’d say target Tatis’ overs. Instead, we’re taking whatever unders offer the best value tonight.
