There are nine games on today’s MLB slate, leaving it a bit on the light side. But there are still plenty of notable matchups and value on the board. One of the more unique features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Baseball!
This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for today’s action, 6/23/25. You simply choose whether each set statistic will be more or less than the set number. With the stage set, here are my favorite picks on tonight’s MLB slate.
Ronald Acuna Jr. More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Since his season debut on May 23, Ronald Acuna Jr. has been the best hitter in baseball. He is leading MLB in batting average (.396), on-base percentage (.504), and ranks third in slugging (.698) since this point. Acuna ranks above the 90th percentile in barrel percentage and average exit velocity while posting 39 total hits, eight home runs, and 15 RBI.
The Braves will open up a series against the Mets, who have dropped eight of their last nine. Paul Blackburn is expected to get the start and is posting a 6.92 ERA on the season. He allowed four runs in 3.2 innings against the Braves last week, which included Acuna hitting a home run off of him in the first inning. The Braves slugger enters this game having tallied more than 1.5 total bases in three straight games and nine of his past 12. Acuna is back to his MVP standard and will carry this into a matchup where he has had success. Count on him remaining hot and tallying more than 1.5 total bases for the fourth straight game and the second time while facing Blackburn.
Juan Soto More Than 0.5 Home Runs
The New York Mets handed Juan Soto a historic contract this offseason, and the four-time All-Star has finally arrived in full form. Since June started, Soto is slashing .328/.494/.687 with seven home runs in 20 games. This includes a four-hit and two-home run performance against the Phillies on Saturday.
He will face Spencer Schwellenbach and the Braves today. The 25-year-old enters with a 3.26 ERA with 12 home runs allowed this season. Schwellenbach pitched 7.0 innings in the previous matchup, allowing two home runs and four earned runs, including a Soto longshot. The Braves’ ace has struggled more against lefties, allowing 1.74 home runs per nine innings compared to 0.40 home runs per nine to right-handed hitters. He has also been much worse on the road compared to at home this season. The winds will be blowing out tonight, making it hitter friendly. Look for Soto to continue his hot streak and to put one over the fence in the second straight matchup with Schwellenbach.
Paul Goldschmidt More Than 1.5 Total Bases
He gets overshadowed in a loaded Yankees lineup at times, but Paul Goldschmidt has been excellent this year. The seven-time All-Star is slashing .298/.358/.447 with eight home runs and 32 RBI so far. He has been even better against left-handed pitching, slashing .425/.512/.740 with a 1.251 OPS this year.
This is great news for today, with Nick Lodolo set to be on the mound for the Reds. Lodolo enters with a 3.71 ERA but has a 5.40 ERA at home with nine home runs allowed in 38.1 innings. He has also allowed 10 of his 11 home runs to right-handed hitters this season. Goldschmidt is 4-for-8 against Lodolo all time with two home runs and a double. This matchup will be taking place at Great American Ball Park, which is one of the most home-run-friendly stadiums in baseball. While a home run is very much in play, I am going a bit safer and backing Goldschmidt to tally more than 1.5 total bases tonight.
Trevor Larnach More Than 0.5 Runs Batted In
The Minnesota Twins will open up a series against the Seattle Mariners today, with Bryan Woo getting the start against them. Woo enters with a 3.12 ERA and 11 home runs allowed so far this season. He has been especially vulnerable to right-handed hitters and conceded a 129 wRC+ to righties compared to a 30 wRC+ to left-handed hitters. He is also allowing a 1.64 HR/9 innings and a .295 wOBA to lefties compared to 0.60 HR/9 and .060 wOBA to righties.
Look for Trevor Larnach to take advantage of this. The Twins’ designated hitter and outfielder is 2-for-3 against Woo in his career and is beginning to get back on track for the season. He posted a 115 wRC+ in May and 109 wRC+ in June, bumping his OPS to a career-high .734. Larnach has tallied 35 RBI on the season, including logging one in three of his past four games. Expect the Twins’ bats to come to life a bit tonight and for Larnach to be a big part of the production. He has tallied five hits and three RBI across his past four games, and I like his chances of remaining hot in a matchup he has had success with before.
Josh Naylor More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Josh Naylor enters tonight’s game riding an 11-game hitting streak and is one of the hottest hitters in baseball. He has tallied multiple hits in two of his past five games. Naylor ranks 17th in MLB in batting average and is slashing .303/.358/.465 on the season. He has tallied more than 1.5 total bases in six of his last 11 games, with 27 total bases across this stretch.
The Diamondbacks will be facing the White Sox today with Shane Smith set to get the start. He has been strong so far this season with a 2.85 ERA across his first 72.2 innings pitched. But Smith allowed six runs over 4.1 innings against the Cardinals in his previous start. Naylor is hitting .333 with a .921 OPS against right-handed pitching this year, with eight of his nine home runs coming against righties. He is seeing the ball extremely well at the plate so expect the hitting streak to continue.
Matthew Liberatore More Than 3.5 Strikeouts
Matthew Liberatore is set to make his 15th start of the season tonight against the Cubs. The right-hander enters with a 4.08 ERA and has struck out 66 across his first 79.1 innings pitched. He is averaging 7.5 strikeouts per nine innings and has tallied more than 3.5 strikeouts in 12 of his 14 starts. This includes six of the seven starts at home this season. Liberatore is attacking the strike zone with confidence and has cut his walk rate down to 1.2 walks per nine innings and is posting a 6.00 strikeouts/walk ratio, which ranks third in MLB.
The Cubs are striking out 7.94 times per game, which ranks 10th in MLB. Dansby Swanson and Seiya Suzuki pave the way with both players ranking in the top 10 in the National League in strikeouts this season. Liberatore has tallied 13 strikeouts over 12.1 innings in his career against the Cubs.
This is a modest total and one that Liberatore has hit at a very consistent rate. Count on him to continue building off this and tally more than 3.5 strikeouts tonight.
