Bayern Munich kicked off their FIFA Club World Cup campaign in style, beating Auckland City 10-0 in the opening match, good enough for the biggest win in the history of the competition. Argentina’s Boca Juniors looked like they were on track for a win in their opening game against Benfica, but squandered a two-goal lead in a game that ended in a 2-2 draw. These two sides will now match up on Friday, with Bayern Munich looking to take firm control of the group and get one foot into the Round of 16.

It was no shock that Bayern Munich got a convincing win over Auckland City in the opening match, but I don’t think anyone saw a record-setting 10-goal win coming. This game should be much more competitive, but I still only see one outcome. The German side is one of the best teams in the world, coming off a season in which they won the Bundesliga by 13 points. They scored a whopping 99 goals along the way, averaging just over 2.9 per game. Goals have never been an issue for Munich, and I think they will continue to demonstrate that on Friday.
I think Bayern win this one comfortably, and I like both Harry Kane and Michael Olise to score. It’s quite shocking that they scored 10 goals in the opening match but yet their leading scorer Harry Kane was not on the scoresheet. He finished with one shot on target before being substituted in the 61st minute. I would be shocked if their talisman was held goalless for the second consecutive match.
Michael Olise did feature on the scoresheet in the opening match, starting on the right wing and scoring two first-half goals. He was then substituted at halftime, but it’s understandable as Munich wanted to rest some of their key players while leading 6-0 at the time. Expect both of these players to start Friday’s game, and play more minutes than they did in the opening match blowout.
