The final Signature Event of the 2025 PGA TOUR season is underway, and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has already made his presence felt with a first-round 62, which has him tied for the lead after Round 1. Outside of Scheffler, it’s open-season for anyone who wants to go low on Friday.
Below I detail my two favorite bets for Round 2.
Ben Griffin End of Round Top 10 +300
Griffin has been one of the hottest golfers on the PGA TOUR of late, posting four top-10 finishes across his past four starts, which includes a win at the Charles Schwab Challenge and runner-up at the Memorial. During this stretch he ranks No. 2 in this field in both SG: Tee-to-Green and Total Strokes Gained, trailing only Scottie Scheffler.
He opened his first round at the Travelers with a three-under 67, which currently has him in a tie for 15th place. However, if you dig into the numbers you’ll find that this round could have been even better. Griffin ranked fourth in the field on approach, gaining 2.34 strokes with his irons. Unfortunately, he lost a full stroke on the greens, which is pretty shocking since he’s one of the best putters on the PGA TOUR.
Right now Griffin is just one stroke from the top-10, and if he continues to stripe his irons the way he did in Round 1, there’s no doubt he’ll continue moving up the leaderboard on Friday. Look for him to bounce big in a big way with the putter as well.
Viktor Hovland over Robert Macintyre -115
This line feels a bit off considering how each of these golfers played in the first round. Macintyre finished one-over on the day, while losing 1.58 strokes on approach and 1.06 off-the-tee in the process. Hovland on the other hand was incredible. The Norwegian led the entire field in SG: Approach, gaining 3.02 strokes, while also gaining another 1.11 on the greens. He currently sits in a tie for seventh.
Both of these guys played great last week at the U.S. Open, but Hovland looks dialed right now while the Scotsman might be on a bit of a letdown after last week’s runner-up finish. At just -115, there is a lot of value on Hovland to win this Friday 2-ball.
