Ryan McMahon More Than 0.5 Home Runs
It has been a tough season for the Rockies, but Ryan McMahon has been one of the lone bright spots on the team in recent weeks. It was a slow start for McMahon, just like it was for most of his teammates. However, over the last couple of weeks, his bat has caught fire. In his last 12 games, he slashed .333/.435/.795 with a 1.230 OPS. McMahon has found some real power, hitting three home runs in his past six games. He has been much better against right-handed pitching this season, with a 109 tOPS+ against right-handers. The right-handed Trevor Williams is on the mound for Washington today. Williams has really struggled this season, sporting a 5.71 ERA heading into today. He has been unable to go deep into games, and once it gets to the bullpen, Washington has the second-worst unit in baseball by bullpen ERA. McMahon should see plenty of pitches to hit out of the park in Washington.
Brandon Lowe More Than 0.5 Runs
Brandon Lowe is one of the hottest hitters in baseball at the moment. Over the last 28 days, he has been slashing .344/.386/.645 with a 1.031 OPS, hitting 16 RBIs across 24 games. In the past week, those numbers are even higher. In his past six games, he is slashing .478/.538/.783 with a 1.321 OPS. Lowe can’t be stopped at the moment, and should be able to get on base and generate a run against the Orioles tonight. Lower has a 124 tOPS+ against right-handers this season, and the right-handed Charlie Morton is on the bump for Baltimore tonight. Morton has been awful this season, sporting a 6.05 ERA heading into this game. He has been forced to take a role out of the bullpen at times this season, but has been in the rotation again for the past month. Once Lowe gets on base, his teammates should be able to drive him in to register a run.
Christian Yelich More Than 1.5 Total Bases
The Brewers are facing Jameson Taillon and the Cubs at Wrigley Field this afternoon. Christian Yelich will look to keep up his strong run of form in this big series against Chicago. These two have faced off plenty over the years, and Yelich has solid career numbers against Taillon. In 33 career at-bats against Taillon, Yelich is batting .303 and has two home runs. The past month, Yelich has been on fire. In his last 21 games, he is slashing .363/.427/.663 with a 1.089 OPS. He has a 128 tOPS+ this season against right-handers and will look to keep improving those numbers against Taillon.
Francisco Lindor More Than 0.5 Hits
Francisco Lindor held himself accountable in front of the media last night. When asked why the Mets are on this current losing skid, Lindor said that it’s hard to win games when your lead-off guy can’t get on base, referring to himself as the issue. It has certainly been a cold few days for Lindor, although the Mets have other issues that have held them back as well. Lindor still has a higher on-base percentage this season than he finished with in last year’s campaign, where he ended up second in NL MVP voting. Meaning, Lindor is going to be just fine. After the public accountability he took last night, Lindor should respond and pick up a base hit in this game. Lindor is batting .375 in his career against Spencer Strider, and Strider has been a bit shaky this season, rocking a 4.35 ERA entering tonight’s game.
Brandon Nimmo More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Brandon Nimmo is another Met who will be happy to see Spencer Strider on the mound for Atlanta. In 16 career at-bats against Strider, Nimmo is batting .500. Of those eight hits, he has a double, a triple and two home runs. So, Nimmo has always been able to generate power off Strider, registering an extra-base hit in 25% of his career at-bats against him. Nimmo has been having a solid season at the plate, with a 112 OPS+ heading into today. Over the past month, he is batting .301 with an .888 OPS. He should keep the positive momentum rolling in tonight’s game and pick up another extra-base hit against Strider.
Carlos Correa More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Carlos Correa is having an up-and-down season in Minnesota. He started slow, started to find his groove, then cooled off again in the past couple of weeks. This is a great chance for Correa to get his bat going once again. The Reds are sending out Nick Martinez to start today’s game, a pitcher that Correa has crushed in the past. In 14 career at-bats against Martinez, Correa is slashing .643/.643/1.500 with three home runs. The two faced off frequently when Martinez was in Texas and Correa was in Houston, and Correa always got the better of him, usually with some real power. Correa should relish the chance to face Martinez again in this interleague battle and find a way to generate an extra-base hit to total more than 1.5 bases.
