Shohei Ohtani just made his first start on the mound since August 2023 a couple of days ago, but that doesn’t mean he’s not slugging anymore. The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar still boasts a .296 AVG with a 1.027 OPS and 25 home runs on the season. Rest assured, he’s not going anywhere.
Here’s the top Shohei Ohtani prop bet for Dodgers vs. Padres on Monday night.
Shohei Ohtani over 1.5 total bases (-135)
As mentioned above, Ohtani remains one of the best hitters in baseball. With a slash line of .296/.393/.634, the Japanese star continues to knock the cover off baseballs while reaching base at an excellent rate.
His numbers look even better over the last seven games, too. In that span, Ohtani bats .346 /.452/.692, very impressive marks all around. He’s also smashed two home runs over that span as well.
Tonight, the Dodgers host the Padres as Stephen Kolek takes the mound for San Diego. The right-hander’s numbers look respectable with a 3.50 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 46.1 innings. However, we know Ohtani to be essentially matchup-proof, so there’s not much reason to shy away from betting the superstar in the late slate.
Ohtani has tallied 182 total bases this season, the most of any player not named Aaron Judge. Over his last 10 games, he’s averaging 2.3 total bases per contest and has gone over this 1.5 total bases line six times. I’ve written this prop bet several times this season, and until it fails more often than not or the line shifts high, I’ll keep going back to the well and targeting it. At -135 odds, it’s easily my favorite Ohtani prop for this evening.
