MLB Picks: Player Props and Team Props for Wednesday, June 18, 2025

Eric Lauer under 14.5 outs recorded vs. Arizona Diamondbacks +125

Eric Lauer has yet to pitch at least five innings in any of his nine appearances this season, which include three starts. He has alternated between the rotation and bullpen, but this will be his second consecutive start. In his three starts, Lauer has come close to the five-inning mark but has not exceeded 4.1 innings. To hit the over, he must pitch five full innings. This is a challenging matchup against the Diamondbacks, whose expected lineup has a combined .359 wOBA and .183 ISO against left-handed four-seam fastballs. Lauer has thrown this pitch 50% of the time this season, and it has been his most effective offering. However, his sample size this year is small. In his last major league stint in 2023, he posted a 6.56 ERA, with a 7.54 xERA and a 7.41 FIP. I expect the Diamondbacks to capitalize on him early, likely leading to an early exit.

Gleyber Torres 2+ total bases vs. Pittsburgh Pirates +115

Gleyber Torres has excelled against left-handed pitching this season, posting a .439 wOBA, .281 ISO, and 190 wRC+. Given this performance, he is likely to bat leadoff to maximize his impact. This makes him a strong candidate to record at least two total bases against Andrew Heaney and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Torres has batted leadoff 12 times this season, achieving at least two total bases in seven of those games. Heaney relies heavily on his four-seam fastball, throwing it 51% of the time. Against this pitch from left-handed pitchers, Torres has an impressive .564 wOBA and .333 ISO this season. I’m confident in this bet regardless of Torres’ batting position, but I’m especially optimistic if he hits leadoff.

Atlanta Braves team total over 4.5 runs vs. New York Mets -120

Paul Blackburn will start for the Mets tonight, but his pitching has been subpar. Over the past three seasons, he has posted an xERA of at least 4.11, with declining strikeout rates and a tendency to allow hard contact. I expect a short outing, regardless of his performance. In his three appearances this season, including one start, he has not exceeded five innings. In his most recent bullpen appearance, he recorded just one out while surrendering four runs on four hits against the Rays. When Blackburn exits, the Mets’ bullpen, which has a 5.85 ERA, 4.12 FIP, and 4.1 BB/9 over the past week, will take over.

Good luck with these MLB picks tonight!
