NHL Picks: Best Oilers vs. Panthers prop bets for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final

On Saturday night, the Edmonton Oilers head back to Canada to host the Florida Panthers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. This series has provided plenty of high-octane hockey and looks like the best championship round in quite some time.

I’ve cashed five of my last six props this series as well as my last two first goalscorer picks, so let’s keep the momentum rolling today. Here are the best Oilers vs. Panthers prop bets for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight.

Panthers vs. Oilers prop bets

Connor McDavid anytime goalscorer (+140)

As always, I have to give McDavid his credit as the best player in the world. Considering his skill level, it’s a bit alarming to see he still doesn’t have a goal in this series. That’s even more surprising when you consider that McDavid has taken 25 shot attempts overall with 17 of those on net. Only three of his total attempts missed the net outright with another five of those being blocked. He’s got 1.5 expected goals this series, so as McDavid continues to take a high volume of attempts, something’s got to give eventually.

Matthew Tkachuk over 2.5 shots on goal (+115)

The Panthers’ alternate captain scored two goals last game and broke a three-game drought. Tkachuk has also tallied 27 shot attempts overall this series with 11 of those being put on goal. Outside of Game 2 with no shots on goal, Tkachuk has tallied at least three in every other contest of this series and comes off back-to-back outings with four shots on goal. He’s a special talent and appears to be rounding back into form, so bettors should feel fantastic about getting the value here.

Game to go to OT (+265)

Look… three of four games in this series have required extra hockey to decide a winner. The margins here are razor-thin and it’s evident just how close these two squads are in overall talent level. Given the precedent of this series, I’m actually pretty comfortable predicting yet another overtime period in Game 5, even if the historic precedent indicates we’re in uncharted waters with this many OTs already. The Oilers and Panthers will duke it out once again and everyone loves free hockey — what’s not to like at +265 odds?
