Game 5 is back in Edmonton, which bodes well for McDavid, who has been a different type of animal at Rogers Place this postseason. He has cleared this line in seven of nine home games this postseason, including Games 1 and 2 where he showcased his elite playmaking abilities with five assists. The Oilers have momentum following their Game 4 comeback win and McDavid leads the team in 5v5 primary assists, 5v5 points per-60 and 5v5 expected goals this postseason. Nothing but endless opportunities for the best hockey player in the world to secure two points in front of his home crowd.
Corey Perry 2+ Shots on Goal
It’s hard to fade the 40-year-old sniper who happens to play on the first power play line alongside McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. There have been a whopping 41 combined power play opportunities in just four games this series, and Perry is tied with his teammate, Evan Bouchard, among skaters for the most power play shots (8). He has cleared this line in all four games thus far while averaging six shot attempts per game. Plus, Perry is 40 years old––his role is quite clear. Shoot the puck, score goals and get under Florida’s skin. He’s succeeded in that role thus far with two goals and will continue to see high-quality chances with the first power play unit.
Brad Marchand 2+ Shots on Goal
It doesn’t matter when he’s playing at home or on the road, as long it’s the Oilers, Marchand is going to show up. He does just about everything for the Panthers and has netted an even-strength goal, power play goal and shorthanded goal in this series. At 37 years old, he won’t see top-six minutes but that hasn’t mattered and he has heated up as the postseason has progressed. He has averaged 6.3 shot attempts per game this series and has cleared this line in all four games. Dating back to December 2021, Marchand has cleared this line in 11 straight games versus Edmonton. With so much uncertainty surrounding Edmonton’s goaltending, Marchand knows he can get easy pucks on net consistently and will take advantage in Game 5.
