Two squads with postseason aspirations are set to meet in the Emerald City. After winning the American League Central last season, the Guardians are hovering above .500 at 35-33. However, Cleveland will have one of its best arms, Tanner Bibee, on the bump tonight. It’s been a frustrating season for the 34-34 Mariners. After a resounding 7-2 victory on Friday, can Seattle clinch this weekend series on Saturday? Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for tonight’s matchup between the Guardians and Mariners.
The Mariners enter Saturday as favorites (-137) over the Guardians, with the over/under set at seven runs. Let’s break down which side has the edge on DraftKings Sportsbook going into tonight’s contest.

Surprisingly, it was the Guardians’ bullpen that let them down on Friday. Relievers Tim Herrin and Hunter Gaddis surrendered four combined runs during the sixth and seventh innings, leading to a decisive Seattle victory. Regardless, the late-game pitching collapse will overshadow the bigger issue, Cleveland’s lack of hitting. The Guards compiled four total hits, half of which came from outfielder Steven Kwan. That’s not a recipe for success against any team, let alone a stingy Mariners squad. Still, there are a few marquee bats in this lineup. Kwan (131 wRC+) is joined by Jose Ramirez (158 wRC+), Daniel Schneemann (113 wRC+) and Carlos Santana (112 wRC+).
To keep Cleveland’s middling offense in check, All-Star George Kirby will take the hill. Entering this season, hopes were high for the right-hander. Unfortunately, a mix of injuries and underperformance have led to some horrendous numbers thus far. Over four starts, Kirby owns a dismal 6.53 ERA. The former ace has looked like his old self recently, allowing four total runs over his previous two outings. Still, it’s not absurd to think there will be more growing pains for Seattle’s young arm. When Kirby last met the Guardians in 2024, he coughed up for eight runs over 3.2 innings. A repeat performance isn’t inevitable, but that’s certainly not a good sign.
For the Guards, it’ll be right-hander Tanner Bibee. This season, the 26-year-old has notched a 3.81 ERA and 1.20 WHIP through 75.2 innings. Those numbers, while not eye-popping, are nothing to sneeze at. Normally, Bibee’s 4.99 road ERA would be cause for concern. However, he should find success tonight at T-Mobile Park, baseball’s most pitcher-friendly venue. In his only career meeting with Seattle last season, the third-year pro tossed six scoreless, 12-strikeout innings. This Mariners offense is averaging just the 19th-most runs per game at home.
