There are several different ways to bet on a starting pitcher on DraftKings Sportsbook, but we all know that strikeout props are the most fun.
It’s a small slate on Thursday night, but here are my top picks to generate some whiffs on the mound.
Top Strikeout Props on DraftKings Sportsbook
Will Warren 5+ Strikeouts (-135)
This is an interesting one. On the one hand, the Royals enter play on Thursday in possession of the second-lowest strikeout rate in June (15.8%). On the other, Warren’s 29.4% strikeout rate is the 13th-highest in baseball among pitchers with at least 50 innings thrown. I’ll side with the latter. The fact of the matter is that Warren’s hit this prop in his past 10 appearances where he faced over 14 opposing hitters. While his last two outings have been shaky, I assume that Warren will be able to work deep into this contest. Kansas City isn’t exactly an offensive powerhouse. It currently sports a .119 ISO — the second-lowest mark in MLB.
Davis Martin 5+ Strikeouts (+140)
This is a prop where the plus-money odds are accounting for most of my interest. I’ll be upfront about Martin’s strikeout prowess — he’s not exactly Roger Clemens. In fact, the RHP enters tonight’s tilt with the Astros with an exceedingly underwhelming 15.6% strikeout rate. However, he is directly on the heels of striking out a season-high seven in his last outing against the Royals. He’s also hit this prop in four of his last eight starts. Matchup plays a large factor, as well. Houston leads all teams in chase rate this month (36.7%), while it also sits sixth in swinging strike rate (12.3%).
Jacob Misiorowski Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-125)
This is less about Misiorowski having to prove himself to me at the MLB level than it is simply about his inability to throw strikes. I’m just not sure how long the 23-year-old will be able to last in his debut. Misiorowski surely has some pedigree. Not only is he the 68th-best prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, but the 6’7 rookie can touch 100 mph with his fastball. That’s likely why he struck out 31.6% of opponents at Triple-A this season. Yet, he also walked 12.3% of batters. That’s after a 14.4% walk rate across two levels in 2024. Efficient isn’t in Misiorowski’s profile and I think he’ll struggle to pitch past the fifth inning on Thursday. The Cardinals possess the league’s seventh-lowest strikeout rate (20.4%). It’s not like St. Louis is an easy lineup to set down.
