UPDATE: Things were looking up for this parlay bettor after the Thunder won Game 5 of the NBA Finals to take a 3-2 series lead. Unfortunately for him, the Oilers could not force a Game 7 and the Panthers won their second-straight Stanley Cup, causing him to lose the parlay by what will likely be a single leg.
UPDATE: The cash-out increased to about $107,000 after the Oilers won Game 4 in overtime. That’s roughly a $50,000 jump in cash-out value.
UPDATE: Trailing 3-0 after the first period, the Oilers came all the way back to beat the Panthers in overtime. Leon Draisaitl scored the game winner in OT to give Edmonton the win and tie the Stanley Cup Final at 2-2.

There’s nothing quite like sweating a parlay. Almost every bettor has been there, needing one or two more legs to hit in order to win big.
Few, however, have been this close on such a massive parlay. Drew Hirschman, 24, placed a $13 wager on DraftKings Sportsbook to win over $270,000. The Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Liberty all won their championships, so he needs the Thunder to win the NBA Finals and Oilers to win the Stanley Cup to cash the ticket.
Oklahoma City trails 2-1 to the Indiana Pacers, and Edmonton trails 2-1 to the Florida Panthers. Six wins is all he needs to win big. Because the Thunder and Oilers are down in the series, the cash-out has lowered to a little over $58,000.
The Oilers play Game 4 on the road in Florida on Thursday, June 12. Evening the series is a must as only one team has overcome a 3-1 deficit in the Stanley Cup Finals — the 1942 Maple Leafs. Edmonton forced a Game 7 after trailing 3-0 in last year’s Finals, but it still didn’t win the title. Furthermore, a Game 4 win for the Oilers would likely increase the cash-out.
That being said, Hirschman seems confident in his parlay. After the Thunder’s Game 3 loss, he claimed the Oilers need to win Game 4 and would ultimately win the series in seven games.
The cash-out has taken a significant drop since the start of the series. Before the series began, it was about $92,000. It went up to $123,000 after the Oilers won Game 1 in overtime. The current cash-out is about half as much with both teams trailing 2-1 in the series.
The Thunder are still favored to win the NBA Finals, but the odds have shrunk from the start of the series. They opened as -650 favorites. The Oilers, however, are larger underdogs. They entered as slight underdogs at -105, while the Panthers were -115.
