Angels call up 2B prospect Christian Moore

The Los Angeles Angels have been very aggressive promoting prospects recently. On Thursday, they did it again, elevating second baseman Christian Moore to the majors.

Moore was selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. He is 22 years old, a stout six-feet-tall, 210 pounds and bats from the right side.

In 92 Triple-A plate appearances this season, Moore slashed .350/.424/.575 with a 10.9% walk rate, 27.2% strikeout rate and .225 ISO. The BABIP was .462, though. Moore had four home runs, 16 runs, 18 RBI and three stolen bases.

Moore was the number-one ranked prospect in the Angels system while being 60th in MLB’s Top 100.

Luis Rengifo and Scott Kingery have been playing second base. Rengifo will likely man third base while Moore slots in at second base. Scott Kingery and Kevin Newman will likely see their playing time reduced.
