With baseball going on all afternoon, we’re left with a teeny-tiny six-game MLB featured slate on DraftKings for Wednesday night. Yet that only means that value is going to be more difficult to find that usual.
I accept the challenge. Here are my top MLB DFS value picks for tonight’s action on the diamond.

SP Jack Leiter, Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins, $7,500
The pitching on this slate available for less than $8,000 is a nightmare, but at least Leiter provides some upside. The former second-overall pick’s walk rate is a little worrisome (11.3%) and he’s outperforming his expected statistics, but at the end of the day, Leiter has pitched to a 3.48 ERA across 51.2 innings in 2025. If you isolate Leiter’s past five outings, he possesses an even more delightful 2.20 ERA in a span where he’s holding opponents to a .170/.272/.290 slash line. It’s also a stretch where Leiter’s amassed at least 18.0 FPTS three times.
The Twins have been swinging the bat well over the past two weeks, yet for the season as a whole, the team is the definition of mediocre, registering a wRC+ of exactly 100. You could surely hunt for a better matchup on this slate, but you won’t find a value arm with more talent than Leiter. I’ll bank on that and take my chances.
1B Casey Schmitt, San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies, $3,100
Schmitt went deep in yesterday’s game for his first home run of the season. He might just make it two days in a row this evening at Coors Field. Schmitt’s sample sizes at the MLB level are not massive, but the utility infielder has always been at his best against LHPs when with the Giants. To wit, in his 81 plate appearances within the split since the beginning of 2024, Schmitt sports a .866 OPS and a .233 ISO to go along with a 140 wRC+. Plus, with Matt Chapman (hand) on the IL, Schmitt has a clear spot in this lineup.
On Wednesday, Schmitt and the rest of San Francisco’s bats will be opposed by Kyle Freeland ($5,000). In his six starts in Colorado this season, Freeland owns an ugly 7.71 ERA and a 2.18 WHIP. This feels like a typo at first glance, but RHBs are hitting .443 off Freeland at Coors Field in 2025. Woof.
OF Mike Tauchman, Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros, $3,600
Do you want to create some variance on a small slate? Well, how about a White Sox stack? Because everyone and their mother is going to try and squeeze Ryan Gusto ($7,000) into a few lineups as a value pitching option — despite the fact that Gusto hasn’t gone five innings in a start since all the way back on April 23. Most of Gusto’s issues this season have stemmed from his inability to effectively pitch to LHBs. The 102 left-handed opponents that Gusto has faced have combined to hit .322 with a .431 wOBA. They’ve also averaged 2.79 home runs per nine.
So which Chicago lefties should you focus on? Andrew Benintendi ($2,900) is cheap and has some pop. So does Kyle Teel ($2,400), if he’s once again in the lineup on Wednesday. Still, Tauchman feels like the best asset on the board. The veteran has been batting leadoff for the White Sox as of late and it’s easy to see why. In 87 plate appearances, Tauchman has a .414 OBP and a 166 wRC+.
