On Tuesday, all 30 teams from Major League Baseball are in action under the lights. After a four-game turbo slate to get things going, the main MLB DFS fantasy baseball slate gets underway at 7:10 p.m. ET and includes the 11 games starting throughout the rest of the night. With 22 teams in the player pool, there are many ways to consider your roster construction. Lots of big-name stars are in smash spots, and Coors Field is also in play as the Rockies host the Giants. As you assemble your player pool, you may need to pinpoint a few bargain plays to round out your roster. In this post, I’ll highlight my top three bargain plays for Tuesday’s 11-game slate of MLB DFS action.
As always, be sure to double-check weather conditions and lineups before the first pitch. The weather looks pretty clear for most of the games, with Boston and New York as the only spots that even have any cause for concern. Be sure to also double-check lineups as they come out to make sure your bargain plays are starting and batting in spots that give them good upside.

SP Griffin Canning, New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals, $7,400
Canning has had a very strong season for the Mets after making some tweaks in the team’s pitching lab coming into spring training. He has always had a high ceiling but had been inconsistent over the first five seasons of his career with the Angels. This year, he is 6-2 in his 12 starts with a 2.90 ERA, 3.78 FIP and 22.7% K% over 59 innings.
He was masterful in his last outing, holding the mighty Dodgers to just three hits in six shutout innings and totaling seven strikeouts for 29.1 fantasy points. It was his best fantasy output of the season and his sixth start with at least 18 fantasy points. He had been knocked around a little bit in his previous two outings, so it was great to see him get back on track despite such a tough matchup.
On Tuesday, he has a more favorable matchup at home against the Nationals. He shut the Nats out for five innings in Washington when he earned 21.1 fantasy points on April 28. He’ll look to build on his strong outing from last Wednesday with a good outing as the Mets come home after their 5-2 road trip and a scheduled off-day Monday.
2B/3B Max Muncy, Athletics at Los Angeles Angels, $2,600
The Athletics’ version of Max Muncy (not related to the Dodgers’ Max Muncy, who also started his career with the A’s) has been outstanding over his last few games and brings good value with positional flexibility on Tuesday.
Muncy played 21 games with the Athletics in the majors earlier this season but was sent to Triple-A at the end of April. He caught fire for the Las Vegas Aviators, going 17-for-56 (.370) with four doubles and a triple over his last 12 games before getting a promotion on June 4. Since rejoining the Athletics, he is 6-for-21 (.286) with three homers, a stolen base and a 60% hard-hit rate.
He has produced 12.4 fantasy points per game since his promotion and had 24 fantasy points with both a stolen base and a home run on Monday in the first game of this series against the Angels. Jose Soriano ($7,000) has let righties hit .292 against him this season and has a 5.92 home ERA, so Muncy should be in a good spot to return excellent value Tuesday in this AL West matchup.
C Kyle Teel, Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros, $2,400
Just before the Red Sox called up top prospect Roman Anthony ($4,000) to join Marcelo Mayer ($3,000) and Kristian Campbell ($3,300) in their rookie-heavy roster, the top prospect they traded this past offseason also earned a promotion to the majors. Teel was a key part of the trade that brought Garret Crochet to Boston, and he’s ready for his chance with the Sox of a different color in Houston this week.
Teel went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and nine fantasy points in his MLB debut last Friday and went 2-for-4 on Saturday for six more fantasy points before coming up empty on Sunday in two at-bats. In Triple-A before his promotion, Teel hit .295 with eight home runs, seven stolen bases and an impressive .399 wOBA. He had a 41.9% hard-hit rate in Triple-A and has a 50% hard-hit rate in his limited time in the majors. He’s a well-rounded hitter that has produced both power and average throughout his rise through the minors.
The left-handed hitter should get the start against Astros starter Lance McCullers Jr. ($8,500) on Tuesday and will be in the everyday lineup as he continues to establish himself as a key part of the White Sox young core going forward. Getting him at under $2,500 is a great way to fill your catcher spot with plenty of upside while saving significant salary.
