Tuesday’s 15-game MLB slate has plenty of action, with 30 different teams taking the field. Some of today’s biggest matchups include a battle between National League Contenders, as the division-leading Cubs visit the Phillies. Elsewhere, Yankees ace Max Fried will look to get back on track in Kansas City against the Royals. Later, the Dodgers and Padres will renew one of baseball’s best rivalries, this time with San Diego ace Dylan Cease on the mound.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand more than 1.5 total bases
It was quite the weekend for Christian Encarnacion-Strand. Since returning from the injured list last Friday, Cincinnati’s first baseman has driven in three homers and seven RBIs. The recent power surge is a welcome development for a Reds squad mired in mediocrity. Since entering the league in 2023, the 25-year-old has slashed .240/.284/.425. However, his recent success isn’t a major shock; the former top prospect has always possessed massive talent.
It’s unrealistic to expect Encarnacion-Strand to keep hitting at such a torrid pace. Still, he should be positioned for more quality appearances at the plate going forward. That includes tonight’s matchup against Slade Cecconi and the Guardians. The right-hander has posted a mediocre 5.86 ERA over three seasons in the majors. In addition, opponents have accounted for a hefty .520 slugging percentage against Cleveland’s starter. One extra-base hit from CES feels likely tonight.
Lucas Giolito more than 2.5 earned runs
Few players represent the 2025 Red Sox better than Lucas Giolito. The former All-Star has had moments of greatness, but he’s also looked absolutely lost on the mound at times. Through seven starts, the right-hander has posted a dismal 6.42 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. The righty’s FIP of 4.76 suggests he’s been a bit unlucky, but there’s still not much reason for optimism.
Unfortunately for Boston, it’s difficult to envision a bounce-back start for Giolito on Tuesday. The Rays enter this contest as arguably baseball’s hottest team, having won 15 of their last 19 games. During that time, their offense has led baseball with 115 runs and a .470 slugging percentage. Giolito, a pitcher that often gives up home runs, could easily find himself in a world of hurt against Tampa Bay. Don’t expect a low-scoring outing on the road from the veteran tonight.
Brandon Lowe more than 0.5 hits
We’ll stay in Florida, where a red-hot Rays offense will be licking its chops against Lucas Giolito. On a roster filled with standouts, the recent play of Brandon Lowe deserves a mention. Since May 20th, he’s hitting .309 at the plate with six homers and 12 RBIs. Talent has never been an issue for the 30-year-old throughout his career. As long as the second baseman stays healthy, he’s poised to rake in this underrated lineup.
The caveat tonight is that Lowe is 0-for-12 in his career against Giolito. However, as previously mentioned, these two players are performing at opposite ends of the spectrum right now. The two last faced off in 2023, back when Giolito was closer to his All-Star form. In theory, the lefty bat should prove difficult for Boston’s right-handed starter. One base hit is all it will take for Lowe to deliver on this modest total.
Mackenzie Gore less than 6.5 strikeouts thrown
Mackenzie Gore’s phenomenal 2025 campaign has flown under the radar thus far. Through 75.1 innings of work, the southpaw currently leads the National League with 108 strikeouts. In addition, he’s notched a 2.87 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. Clearly, the former top prospect is blossoming into an ace right before our very eyes. Washington’s fireballer will be put to the test on the road tonight against a terrific Mets lineup.
Part of what makes New York so difficult for opposing pitchers is elite plate discipline. Right now, the team is only averaging 7.33 strikeouts per game, the fourth-lowest mark in baseball. In four of Gore’s last five appearances vs. the Mets, he’s failed to record more than six K’s. The 26-year-old has taken his game to another level this season, but whiffs could be difficult to find in Queens tonight.
Aaron Judge more than 2.5 hits + runs + RBIs
The Yankees may have lost their series against the Red Sox, but it was a productive series for Aaron Judge. New York’s face of the franchise ended Sunday with a bang, launching two homers in the Bronx. At this point, nothing feels out of the ordinary for the game’s greatest hitter. This season, #99 is slashing .396/.493/.771 at the plate with 23 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Tonight, Judge will face off against Royals starter Noah Cameron. On paper, this is an enticing matchup for the slugger. In 2025, the outfielder has recorded an eye-popping .422 batting average against left-handed pitching. Granted, the first-year hurler has done a solid job so far of limiting the damage. However, he has yet to face an opponent of this caliber. At this moment, few players in baseball history are a safer pick than Judge.
Noah Cameron more than 3.5 strikeouts thrown
Let’s stick around in Kansas City, where the aforementioned Noah Cameron will face his toughest test. As intimidating as this Yankees lineup is, the rookie has been stellar so far. Through five appearances, the 25-year-old has put up a 0.85 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 19 strikeouts. It’s not as if these starts have come against light-hitting squads. Cameron hasn’t surrendered more than one run against the Reds, Cardinals, Twins and Rays, all above-average lineups.
In spite of the always-dangerous Judge, this Yankees lineup is loaded with left-handed power. That should play into Cameron’s advantage on Tuesday. New York has struck out 10.31 times per game on the road this season, the second-highest mark in baseball. The youngster hasn’t been much of a strikeout artist. However, he’s poised for more K’s tonight against an all-or-nothing New York offense.
