There’s blood in the water. Hocevar must clean up his image, and he can’t afford to do something dumb. The Cup Series drivers know this and will use it against him. It won’t be easy sledding at Michigan. The kid might not wreck, but no one will give him a break. As Hocevar dials back his aggression, his finishes on the leaderboard sink lower.
Ty Gibbs has disappointed in 2025. He’s young, and the field is fiercely competitive. His rookie crew chief is still adapting to a new car, and it’s taking time. Gibbs has struggled at the last four intermediate tracks, posting a 10th at Texas but slipping to 31st, 23rd and 19th in the races that followed. Michigan could turn things around for the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. Gibbs finished third there last season, 11th in 2023 and 10th in 2022 as a part-time fill-in with 23XI Racing. A strong run at Michigan could spark his 2025 ascension, but it won’t come easy in this tough field.

Every manufacturer (OEM) wants the Motor City win. This is the biggest race on the calendar for Detroit, and it’s even bigger for Brad Keselowski. A Detroit win has eluded the Michigander, and with his career winding down, this could be his last shot at his home track. Keselowski’s motivation isn’t just about waking up fired up on Sunday. He and the No. 6 team have been preparing for this race since last year’s Michigan event. It’s that big of a deal.
Speed wins at the high-speed intermediate track in the Irish Hills of Brooklyn, Michigan. Speed is built, and RFK has likely been honing it for months. Keselowski finished fourth at Michigan in 2023 and fifth in 2024. His Ford is close to victory. His RFK teammate won this race in 2023, proving the team’s potential on this track.
Recent races haven’t gone well for Keselowski, a hurdle but not a sign of lacking speed or skill, as cars were separated by mere tenths of a second. His story carries narrative weight, making him a compelling pick despite the risk.
