Baltimore Orioles at Athletics prediction, pick for Saturday 6/7/25

Two of the American League’s most disappointing squads are looking to earn a much-needed win on Saturday night. After one month of play, the Athletics had a respectable 16-15 record. Since then, the A’s have only won nine of their last 34 games. For the visiting Orioles, the 2025 season has been nothing short of a disaster. After reaching the postseason two years in a row, Baltimore now finds itself at the bottom of the AL East. Will either of these clubs turn things around tonight in Sacramento? Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for Saturday’s showdown between the Orioles and Athletics.

Baltimore enters tonight as favorites (-126) over the A’s, with the over/under set at 10.5 runs. Let’s break down which side has the edge on DraftKings Sportsbook going into Saturday’s contest.

Orioles at Athletics prediction, preview

Friday saw the Athletics claw back from an early deficit en route to a 5-4 win. Baltimore’s Dean Kramer coughed up four runs in just over five innings, another mediocre outing for the Birds. This season, the Orioles have allowed 5.26 runs per game to opponents, the fourth-highest mark in baseball. One of the biggest disappointments on the roster has been Charlie Morton. The two-time All-Star has looked washed this season, notching a dismal 6.20 ERA over 14 appearances. However, the 41-year-old has shown some signs of life recently. Over his last 22.0 innings on the mound, Morton has only allowed five earned runs (2.05 ERA).

In theory, the Athletics should have a significant advantage on the mound in this one. Luis Severino is one of the league’s more talented arms; this season, he’s posted a solid 4.54 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 13 starts. However, the Dominican’s home/road splits are quite drastic. Over eight games at Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park, Severino’s ERA has ballooned to 6.99. In addition, he’s had difficulty against the Orioles in the past. Over 14 meetings with Baltimore, the right-hander is on the hook for a 5.17 ERA.

Prior to Friday’s late-game loss, the Orioles had reeled off six straight wins. In comparison, the Athletics have dropped eight of their previous ten matchups. Surprisingly, in that time the team has scored the eighth-most runs in baseball (48); Baltimore is 21st (38). However, the Athletics have coughed up a league-worst 77 runs during that stretch, 17 more than the next-closest squad. The O’s have only given up 31 scores over their last ten outings, sixth-best in the majors.

Orioles at Athletics pick, best bet

Best Bet: Orioles ML (-126)

The A’s have looked good at the plate, but their recent pitching woes can’t be ignored. Baltimore has issues of its own, but Morton’s recent resurgence should have bettors cautiously optimistic. In a battle between cellar-dwellers, back the more talented Orioles on Saturday.
