Aaron Judge is on track for another MVP-level season with the Yankees. Not only is he mashing the ball once again, but he is having a career-best year in terms of his discipline at the plate. If his current numbers hold, it would be Judge’s career-best numbers in batting average and on-base percentage. He currently leads the American League in batting average, OBP, WAR, runs, hits, OPS, OPS+ and the list goes on. Thanks to today’s promotion on DraftKings Pick6, all you need is for Judge to step up to the plate once to win this leg of your Pick6 play. Tommy Edman More Than 0.5 Hits
Tommy Edman and the Dodgers are facing Sonny Gray in St. Louis on Friday night. Edman is off to a strong start to his season for the Dodgers. After coming out of nowhere to win the 2024 NLCS MVP, Edman is riding that momentum into 2025. Edman’s current OPS is .748 and his OPS+ is 110. That would make this the second-best season of Edman’s career if he sustains those numbers through the rest of the year. Edman should be able to maintain it through today at least, as he has great career numbers against Sonny Gray. In 18 career at-bats, Edman has eight hits, including two doubles and a home run. That equals out to a career .722 SLG for Edman against Gray. Edman is a switch-hitter, but has been better as a right-handed hitter this season. Gray has struggled against right-handed hitting this season, allowing an opponent tOPS+ of 122 against righties. Edman should be able to pick up a base hit against Gray and cash this pick.
Starling Marte More Than 0.5 RBIs
After a slow start to the season, Starling Marte has caught fire for the Mets over the past several weeks. Marte was starting to look like he could be a fringe bench player for the Mets this season, with Juan Soto overtaking his old role in right field and Marte’s numbers declining going back to last season. However, Marte has earned a regular spot in the lineup, typically at DH, with his play over the past month. In the last 14 days, Marte is batting .360 and has an OPS of 1.107. Tonight, he will be facing Antonio Senzatela, a pitcher against whom Marte has a great history. Marte is 7/13 with a home run in his career against Senzatela, giving him a career .846 SLG against the right-hander. Senzatela has been horrific this season, with an ERA of 7.14. He faced the Mets in New York in his previous start and gave up seven runs in four innings. The Mets should tee off on Senzatela once again, with Marte playing a role and driving in a run.
Rowdy Tellez More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Rowdy Tellez has struggled so far this season, largely because his metrics in certain situations have been terrible. Against left-handed hitters, he has become virtually unplayable. He has a negative OPS+ against left-handed pitching, a nearly impossible feat. Tellez has also really struggled when playing in Seattle this season, sporting a 40 tOPS+ in home games. However, when used in the right situations, Tellez still has some power in his bat. Against right-handed pitching, Tellez has a 111 tOPS+. On the road, Tellez has a 166 tOPS+. So, against a right-handed starter on the road is the time to target Tellez. He is also 9/24 with a home run in his career against Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks has struggled this season, with an ERA of 5.34. Tellez should be able to knock an extra-base hit off Hendricks and get over this number.
Kodai Senga More Than 6.5 Strikeouts Thrown
Kodai Senga has been phenomenal for the Mets to start the season. Through 11 starts this season, Senga has a 1.60 ERA. His ERA, ERA+ and home runs allowed per nine innings all lead the National League. Tonight, Senga faces the Colorado Rockies in Denver. Senga just faced this Rockies team in New York in his previous start. That was a great performance from Senga, going 6.1 innings, allowing just two runs and striking out seven batters. Senga should be able to replicate that performance and throw more than 6.5 strikeouts in this game. The Rockies have struck out more than any other team in baseball this season. Senga can be aggressive going after their hitters, and should get over this number for the second consecutive start.
Jeremy Pena More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Jeremy Pena is having a career-best season in Houston. It is Pena’s fourth season in Major League Baseball, all with Houston, and he is starting to figure out his game. He is currently slashing .318/.378/.492 and has an OPS of .869. Pena will never be a great power hitter, but between his glove and speed, getting on base is all the Astros need from him at the plate. Pena should have a lot of success tonight against Cleveland’s Logan Allen. In his career, Pena is 5/6 against Allen, including a double and a triple. Pena also has a 132 tOPS+ against left-handed starters this season. Pena has been on fire as of late, with five multi-hit games in his last seven starts. He is more than capable of getting an extra-base hit against Allen, but could also keep up that streak of multi-hit games to get over this number.
