After prevailing in a hotly contested Kentucky Derby, Sovereignty elected to skip the Preakness to prepare for this race. The Derby runner-up, and post-time favorite, Journalism followed his near miss at Churchill with an impressive victory at Pimlico overcoming a five-length deficit to be crowned Preakness champion.
Now, like a heavyweight rubber match, Sovereignty and Journalism face off once more in the 3rd and final jewel of racing’s Triple Crown.
