MLB Best Bets: Top Home Run Props for Thursday 6/5/25

Do you like home runs? I know I like home runs — especially when I’ve bet on said player to hit one.

It’s a small five-game MLB slate this evening, but that doesn’t mean we can’t hunt down a few long ball props on the DraftKings Sportsbook. Let’s dig in.

Top Home Run Props on DraftKings Sportsbook

James Wood 1+ Home Run (+320)

Colin Rea has really struggled in his last six appearances, so much so, that the Cubs will have him follow Drew Pomeranz in tonight’s game against the Nationals. That does guarantee that James Wood will have at least one plate appearance against a difficult lefty, but I still like these odds — that’s how poor Rea has pitched. In 33.2 innings in May, Rea allowed eight opponent home runs, which translates out to a whopping 2.14 per nine. Five of these eight were hit by left-handed bats. Meanwhile, Wood enters Thursday’s action with a 97th percentile mark in both expected slugging percentage (.590) and barrel rate (18.9%). The kid can hit. There’s no question about it.

Pete Crow-Armstrong 1+ Home Run (+360)

In a perfect world, Kyle Tucker (+310) would return tonight from a finger injury and you could bet on him, but with that still up in the air, let’s focus our attention on his teammate. Crow-Armstrong was not really considered an elite power hitter coming into 2025, but the soon-to-be All-Star has already smashed his career-high in home runs, having registered 15 in just 258 plate appearances. Crow-Armstrong also owns an 83rd percentile expected slugging percentage (.511) and an 82nd percentile barrel rate (13.6%). These long balls aren’t a fluke. On Thursday, Crow-Armstrong and the Cubs will take on Jake Irvin, who might just be a perfect home run foil. A second percentile whiff rate (16.5%) proves Irvin does not miss bats and that’s led to the RHP surrendering 1.52 home runs per nine to opposing LHBs.

Jazz Chisholm 1+ Home Run (+350)

Obviously, tonight is a good night to bet Aaron Judge (+170) to hit a home run. Every night is a good night to bet Aaron Judge to hit a home run. However, if you want slightly longer odds, Chisholm is a nice substitute for his MVP teammate. On Tuesday, Chisholm hit a home run in his return from the IL. It was his eighth of the season. Of those eight, seven have been against right-handed pitching and seven have been at Yankee Stadium. Well, then isn’t it nice that this evening Chisholm will face Slade Cecconi in the Bronx. Cecconi has made three starts in 2025. He’s allowed five long balls in just 15.1 innings. Let’s not overthink things, shall we?
