Defending French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz takes on Lorenzo Musetti with a spot in the French Open Final on the line.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Lorenzo Musetti preview

Carlos Alcaraz won two Grand Slam titles in 2024, including the French Open. He is still the second-ranked player in the world, behind Jannik Sinner, but he could be coming for that crown in this tournament. Alcaraz is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his fellow Spaniard, Rafael Nadal, and become the king of Roland Garros. He won his first French Open last season, after making the semifinals the year prior. Now it’s time to try to build that into a dynasty. In the final, he would either face the legendary Novak Djokovic or the world’s top-ranked player, Jannik Sinner. However, before he can get into that epic final, he needs to defeat Lorenzo Musetti.

Lorenzo Musetti is the seventh-ranked player in the world at the moment. Musetti is just 23 years old and is a rising star in the tennis world. In the summer of 2024, Musetti started to take his game to the next level. Musetti won the bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games and immediately followed that up with his first-ever Grand Slam semifinal appearance at Wimbledon. So far in 2025, Musetti has been consistently making quarterfinals and even reached his first ATP1000 final, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in Monte-Carlo.

Alcaraz vs. Musetti pick, best bet

Alcaraz and Musetti have faced each other six times before. Musetti won the first-ever matchup between the two back in 2022, but Alcaraz has won all five since then. They have faced off twice this year, once in the Monte-Carlo Final and once in the Rome semifinals. Musetti didn’t win a set in either of those matches. Musetti is a rising star with great promise, but he is nowhere near the level of Carlos Alcaraz at the moment.

My favorite bet for this match is for Alcaraz to win in straight sets. Alcaraz defeated Musetti in straight sets in each of their two matches this year, and looks unstoppable at the moment. He demolished Tommy Paul in straight sets, which weren’t even close, in the quarterfinals. Paul had been playing great all tournament, and Alcaraz made him look like an amateur. Musetti has had a great run through this tournament to make his second Grand Slam semifinal, but he is about to deal with a player above his level for the first time, and could be in for a rude awakening. At plus-money, I will back Alcaraz to win in three sets over Musetti.

Best Bet: Carlos Alcaraz to win 3:0 (+110)
