The Orioles can’t dig themselves out of this massive hole, right? Right?!
Baltimore went through a nightmarish start to the season, that at one point on May 24, saw them sitting 18 games below .500 at 16-34. However, since that moment, the Orioles have won eight of their 10 games, including their last five in a row. They’ve gotten a little healthier, they’ve pitched a little better, and suddenly they aren’t the worst team in the American League. Go figure.
Can Baltimore win today and sweep Seattle? Let’s break down this 3:40 p.m. ET matchup with some odds and lines on the DraftKings Sportsbook.
Orioles vs. Mariners prediction, preview
Trying to prevent the Orioles from extending their winning streak will be Bryan Woo, who tends to pitch exceedingly well at T-Mobile Park. To wit, in 119.2 career innings in Seattle, Woo possesses a 2.56 ERA and he’s held opponents to a modest .202/.241/.337 slash line. Not a fan of location splits? No worries. Woo’s simply been great in general in 2025, posting a 2.82 ERA and a 3.05 FIP in his 11 starts. Woo isn’t the elite strikeout arm that it seemed like he once might become, yet he’s only allowed more than two earned runs four times this season. Quibble with the process if you must, but he’s clearly been effective.
Zach Eflin is the other probable for this contest, and though he’s just a few day removed from his best outing of 2025, there’s been some serious red flags with the right-hander. While you can surely chalk up some of these struggles to a mid-season injury, Eflin comes into Thursday with an ugly 5.38 FIP in his 40.1 innings of work. The main reason for that figure is the fact that Eflin’s conceding 2.01 opponent home runs per nine with a 14.9% strikeout rate that hasn’t been this low since his early years with the Phillies. Seven scoreless innings against the White Sox last week is nice, yet it doesn’t completely absolve Eflin of these flaws.
It’s worth nothing that it’s been LHBs that have done a majority of the long ball damage off Eflin this season, accounting for seven of the nine home runs. The Mariners are not short on left-handed hitters, either, especially with former first-round pick Cole Young now up with the big club. Obviously, the switch-hitting Cal Raleigh, who leads the American League with 23 homers, is also a name to circle prior to first pitch.
Orioles vs. Mariners pick, best bet
Best Bet: Mariners ML (-155)
Seattle is 3-1 in the starts Woo’s made at home this season, with the lone loss in extra innings.
Strong Lean: Cal Raleigh 2+ Total Bases (+120)
58.6% of Raleigh’s hits in 2025 have gone for extra bases. His .364 ISO is the highest qualified mark in MLB.
