U.S. Open Best Bets: Top longshot golf picks at Oakmont Country Club

Next week’s U.S. Open will be played at Oakmont Country Club (par 70, 7,372 yards, POA annua greens) in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. This course last hosted the U.S. Open in 2016, which was won by Dustin Johnson (-4). There will be 156 golfers competing at the U.S. Open next week and there will be a top-60 and ties cut following the first two rounds. Below, I dive into some of my favorite early, longshot betting picks for the U.S. Open, via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Corey Conners (+6500)

Conners is having an awesome season, making 10-of-14 cuts with five top-10 finishes, including a T8 at the Masters. Ranking ninth in SG OTT and 13th in driving accuracy on the PGA TOUR this season, the Canadian has been brilliant with his driver, which is very important for next week’s U.S. Open. Like most U.S. Open venues, stronger drivers of the golf ball will have an advantage at Oakmont next week as this course is a long par 70 that features penalizing rough.

Conners’ elite accuracy with his driver will help him navigate Oakmont better than most, so breaking through for his first major win is in the realm of possibilities next week. Conners finished T9th at last year’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 and he has finished T26th or better in each of his last five starts at a major.

Si Woo Kim (+10000)

Kim finished T8th at last month’s PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club, marking his best major finish to date. This is one of his four top-20 finishes in his last six solo starts, and Kim’s driver has been excellent this season with him ranking 32nd in SG OTT this season.

It also bodes well for Kim that Oakmont presents poa putting surfaces. The 29-year-old owns positive splits on this green type and both of his top-10 finishes this season have come at venues that features poa greens. Kim has four PGA TOUR wins on his resume and he is worth rolling the dice on to win at Oakmont at these very long +1000 odds.
