Aces are set to battle in Cincinnati when the Reds host the Brewers. Milwaukee enters tonight on a hot streak, having won eight straight games. The same can’t be said for the Reds, who have lost four of their last five outings. Last night, the Brewers took the first game of this series with a 3-2 victory. Can they make it two straight against a Reds squad hungry for a win? Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for this Tuesday night battle between the Brewers and the Reds.
Cincinnati enters tonight as favorites (-130) over Milwaukee, with the over/under set at 8 runs. Let’s break down which side has the edge on DraftKings Sportsbook going into Tuesday’s contest.
Brewers at Reds prediction, preview
As previously mentioned, this one has all the ingredients for an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel. The visiting Brewers will send out Freddy Peralta, one of the National League’s top arms. While the Dominican often flies under the radar, he’s a threat against any hitter in baseball. This season, the right-hander has posted a 2.77 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 66 strikeouts over 65.0 innings of work. He’s also had success in this spot, recording a 2.52 ERA during his previous five appearances vs. the Reds.
Peralta will face off against another elite hurler, Hunter Greene. Cincinnati’s ace has gotten off to a phenomenal start, notching a 2.63 ERA and 66 strikeouts over ten starts. He enters tonight on a hot streak, allowing less than three runs in all but one of his outings. However, length has been a problem for Greene in 2025. The right-hander has pitched five innings or less in each of his last three games. Tuesday’s matchup won’t be easy for the Reds; Milwaukee ranks ninth in baseball with 4.54 runs scored per game.
Both of these offenses are dangerous, ranking inside the top 11 in baseball for runs scored per game. For the Brewers, veteran Rhys Hoskins (127 wRC+) has been leading the charge, currently enjoying a resurgent season. Six different members of Milwaukee’s lineup currently have at least a 100 wRC+ (above average). Other than superstar shortstop Elly De La Cruz, the Reds have plenty of capable hitters. Names to watch include outfielders Austin Hays (138 wRC+) and T.J. Friedl (125 wRC+), as well as infielder Gavin Lux (115 wRC+).
Brewers at Reds pick, best bet
Each of these NL Central squads has an elite arm taking the hill on Tuesday. In addition, both sides possess plenty of offensive firepower. For a matchup that’s this even on paper, the edge needs to go towards the pitcher with more proven success. That would be Peralta; his 3.35 career ERA vs. Cincinnati is a clear upgrade over Greene’s 7.45 lifetime mark against Milwaukee. It helps that the Brewers are currently on an eight-game winning streak. A solid showing from both starters should be expected, but I’m leaning towards the road dog at plus money.
