The Knicks are in trouble. They’re down 3-1 and head back home for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Typically, home court would be an advantage for the Knicks, but that hasn’t been the case in the playoffs.
New York is just 3-5 at home and 6-2 on the road in the 2025 postseason. It’s the opposite of how teams typically perform with home-court advantage.
Game 5 will be at Madison Square Garden as the Knicks fight to keep their season alive. Just 13 teams have overcome a 3-1 deficit in NBA playoff history.

The Knicks assembled a juggernaut starting five for these moments. When one person goes down, another can easily step up in their absence.
Karl-Anthony Towns is questionable for Game 5 with a knee contusion, so it’ll be on Anunoby and Mikal Bridges to fill the offensive void. Towns will likely play considering it’s a must-win game in the playoffs, but he may still be hobbled as seen late in Game 4.
Anunoby has proven to be a strong offensive option in spurts, especially with Jalen Brunson sidelined during the regular season. Even with Brunson back in the playoffs, he’s posted multiple 20-point games, including a 29-point game against the Celtics.
His game has been consistent against the Pacers, posting three straight 16-point games before dropping 22 in Game 4. He shot 7-of-16 from the field, which is his most made and attempted field goals of this series. Additionally, he shot 7-of-9 from the foul line, his most in the 2025 postseason.
That level of output should continue in Game 5, and could even increase if Anunoby knocks down another three-pointer or two. He shot just 1-of-7 from distance in Game 4 and is averaging 6.7 attempts per game in these playoffs.
If Towns doesn’t play, Anunoby’s scoring will certainly increase. Even with Towns on the floor, he should clear the over on 16.5 points in Game 5.
