MLB Prop Bets for Wednesday, May 28, 2025
Paul Goldschmidt 2+ total bases -110
When the Yankees face a left-handed pitcher, Goldschmidt slides up to the leadoff spot, as I expect tonight against Angels starter Yusei Kikuchi. Kikuchi is a regression candidate, with his 3.17 ERA accompanied by an xERA of 4.59 and a 4.34 FIP. Goldschmidt moves up to the leadoff spot due to his career success against lefties, which has continued this season. He’s slashing a remarkable .533/.625/.933 with a .641 wOBA through 56 plate appearances. Goldschmidt handles Kikuchi’s two main pitches—a slider and a four-seam fastball—exceptionally well, with a .408 wOBA against the slider and a .504 wOBA against the four-seam.
Nationals at Mariners total runs through first five innings over 4.5 -115
I expect plenty of early offense in tonight’s Nationals-Mariners matchup. Trevor Williams takes the mound for the Nationals and has been hit hard lately, allowing at least four runs in four of his last five starts. He’s been somewhat unlucky in some starts, but others have been as expected. His biggest issue has been left-handed hitters, with the Mariners likely featuring several in tonight’s lineup. Williams has a .436 wOBA against lefties, and the most likely Mariners lineup includes five of them.
The Mariners send George Kirby to the mound for his second start of the season after a disastrous debut. Against the Astros, Kirby allowed five runs on six hits in just 3.2 innings. His minor league rehab numbers reflect similar struggles: in three starts, he pitched 10 innings, allowing eight runs on 15 hits, resulting in a 7.20 ERA and a 5.64 FIP. Kirby relied heavily on his sinker—a significant shift from last year—throwing it 53% of the time. If he continues this approach, the Nationals are well-equipped to capitalize, as their expected lineup has a combined .383 wOBA against the sinker.
Seiya Suzuki 3+ H/R/RBI +130
Suzuki has been hitting well this season, slashing .272/.330/.568 with a .381 wOBA over 51 games. He’s excelled against left-handed pitchers, posting a .531 wOBA and a .458 ISO. Tonight, right-handed Suzuki faces Rockies starter Tanner Gordon, who has struggled in limited action against right-handed batters. In just 23 right-handed batters faced, Gordon has allowed six runs, four earned, on nine hits, including four extra-base hits. Gordon throws his four-seam fastball nearly half the time, against which Suzuki has a .364 wOBA and a .293 ISO this season. I expect Suzuki to achieve at least three combined hits, runs, or RBIs tonight.
Good luck with these MLB picks tonight!
