With the finale of the series between the White Sox and the Mets moved up to this afternoon to avoid some inclement weather, tonight’s featured MLB DFS slate on DraftKings is just five games.

SP Clarke Schmidt, New York Yankees at Los Angeles Angels, $7,700
I think “decent” would be a fair word to describe Schmidt’s season to this point, as the right-hander comes into Wednesday in possession of a 4.58 ERA across 37.1 innings of work. However, Schmidt’s ERA estimators paint a much more kind picture and, in terms of his value specifically in DFS, the 29-year-old has some very intriguing strikeout upside. Consider that Schmidt owns a 26.9% strikeout rate dating back to April 21, a span of time the right-hander has racked up at least six strikeouts in four of his six outings. At this price, in a vacuum, that’s enough ceiling to turn some heads. In a matchup with the Angels? It should have your full attention.
Los Angeles has an extremely all-or-nothing approach at the plate. Take the last two weeks as a perfect example. While the Angels have hit an AL-high 22 long balls in the past 14 days, they’ve paired that with an AL-high 26.4% strikeout rate. If Schmidt can throw six innings this evening, he might end up flirting with a double-digit strikeout total.
SS J.P. Crawford, Seattle Mariners vs. Washington Nationals, $3,500
Forget value for a second. Crawford might simply be one of the best dollar-for-dollar plays on this whole slate, regardless of actual price tag. The power that the 30-year-old showcased in 2023 seems more like a fever dream the farther and farther we get away from that season, but Crawford is still finding ways to produce in 2025, batting leadoff for the Mariners with a .384 OBP and a 128 wRC+ over 213 plate appearances. The man just finds ways to get on base.
Crawford’s viability also hinges on his premium matchup on Wednesday night. He and Seattle will draw the struggling Trevor Williams ($6,200), who is having an extremely difficult time dealing with yet another drop in his velocity this season. Williams sports an ugly 6.39 ERA in his 10 starts in 2025, with opposing LHBs doing most of that damage. To wit, lefties are slashing .379/.423/.595 off Williams with a .435 wOBA. Yikes.
1B Jake Burger, Texas Rangers vs. Toronto Blue Jays, $3,700
I mean… It is International Burger Day. Google told me so.
Jokes aside, this is truly a nice slate to get Burger into a few lineups. In the 15 games Burger has appeared since getting re-called from Triple-A on May 12, the slugger has managed 14 hits. Eight of those have gone for extra bases. That equates out to an .812 OPS and a .286 ISO. It’s obviously a small sample, but remember, this is still the same man that knocked out 63 home runs combined in 2023 and 2024. It’s not like this power surge is coming out of nowhere. Burger should get a couple opposite-hand matchups against Eric Lauer ($6,000) on Wednesday. I expect him to have a good performance.
