The Minnesota Timberwolves are facing elimination as they travel back to Oklahoma City in a 3-1 series hole. The Thunder have had an answer for everything the Timberwolves have thrown at them throughout this series, with this especially evident in the previous matchup. In Game 4, Minnesota tallied more rebounds, assists, fastbreak points, second chance points, and free throw attempts while shooting a better percentage from the field, beyond the three-point arc, and at the free throw line compared to the Thunder.

However, they fell short in the final score and will need to produce a better result if they are to keep their series alive. Teams have only been able to come back from a 3-1 series deficit at a 4.4% rate in NBA history, coming back to win in just 13 of the 294 opportunities. This starts with extending things one game at a time, although Oklahoma City is 7-1 in front of their home crowd during this playoff run.

Looking at the Game 5 odds, the Thunder enter as 8-point favorites and -345 on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Timberwolves hold +275 odds on the Moneyline with the game total set at 220.5.

Looking at the bets placed on DraftKings Sportsbook, it is an interesting mix.

Timberwolves vs. Thunder Betting Splits:

Looking at the moneyline, 69% of bets placed on DraftKings Sportsbook and 67% of the betting handle are backing the Thunder to get the win and advance to the NBA Finals. In contrast, 31% of the bets placed and 33% of the betting handle are taking the Timberwolves to get the upset victory and bring the series back to Minnesota.

The outlook is more balanced on the spread, with 47% of the bets and 56% of the betting handle taking the Thunder to cover the -8 number. This means 53% of the bets and 44% of the betting handle are backing Minnesota to cover the +8, which is one of the more even betting splits across these playoffs.

The most clear consensus is on the game total, with 80% of the bets and 72% of the betting handle backing the over at 220.5 points. The total finished under this number in the first game, but has cleared in the previous three matchups, including a sky-high 254 points being put on the board in Game 4.
