For the first time since May 10, Corey Seager will take the field for the Rangers on Wednesday night.
The former All-Star has been reinstated from the 10-day IL after missing most of the past month with a hamstring issue. To say that Texas has missed its shortstop would be an understatement. It’s not just that Seager was hitting .300 with an eye-popping .425 expected wOBA in his 107 plate appearances in 2025. It’s that no one on the Rangers has hit at all since Seager was lost to injury. In fact, since May 11, Texas ranks dead-last in MLB with a .203 batting average as a team. In that same span, the Rangers possess equally ugly marks in both wOBA (.276) and wRC+ (76).
On Wednesday, Seager and the rest of Texas’ bats will square-off with the Blue Jays bullpen day. Paxton Schultz will open the contest and will almost assuredly be followed by Eric Lauer. Fittingly, the Rangers are -135 favorites on the DraftKings Sportsbook.
