He’s a force on the basepaths, and with all signs pointing in his direction, stealing a base tonight feels inevitable. Everything’s lining up for him to make a move. With 16 steals already this season, PCA is a top threat on the basepaths, and his last stolen base came quite a few games ago on May 7, 2025, against the Mets. His 30.1 ft/sec sprint speed ranks him in the 97th percentile among qualified hitters. That’s fast fast.
The Rockies, however, are struggling to prevent stolen bases, ranking dead last in MLB for the most stolen bags allowed. They’ve given up 15 steals in the last week alone. The Cubs have shown they’ll take advantage of precisely that. They stole five bases off Rockies’ pitchers in their last matchup. Chicago’s early-week power outage only adds to PCA’s chances—when the offense isn’t hitting for extra-base power, aggressive baserunning becomes even more essential. If PCA reaches base, expect him to get the green light, especially with the Cubs pressing to generate offense.
